Description

Thankfully, the 97% sRGB color coverage is paired with an accurate color representation, mainly because of our Gaming and Web design profile. This lets you use the device for professional color-related work, which basically justifies the “Pro” moniker in the name.

Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″)’s display doesn’t use PWM to adjust its brightness at any point. This means it is comfortable for long gaming sessions without harming your eyes in this aspect. Now, if you turn the laptop upside down, you will only see the rather big ventilation grill, while the hot air escapes from in between the lid and the base. Also on the bottom panel, there are a couple of cutouts for the speakers. The laptop we have in for a review is the IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″, 2022). As the name suggests, it is a 14-inch device made in 2022. It is also found under the name IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 Gen 7, or IdeaPad 5 Pro 14IAP7. What’s more, this laptop has one thing those others don’t: a gaming-grade dedicated GPU. Admittedly, I’m talking about the NVIDIA RTX 3050 set to run at a maximum 55W, so you’re not getting the chip’s maximum performance, but it’s fast enough to run most games at 1080p at medium quality settings or even at high detail settings if you’re happy with a 30 to 40fps frame rate.

On one side, there’s the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 gen8 built on AMD processors and AMD iGPUs on this 14-inch chassis, with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5/LPDDR5x memory and gen4 SSD storage. The SSD is a standard 2280 M.2 slot, but the RAM and the other major components are non-upgradeable. On top of these, there’s also a 75 Wh battery inside, which should ensure some excellent runtimes on these efficient AMD platforms. The screen also hits 78.9% of the tougher DCI P3 colour standard, while colour accuracy is great, with a low average Delta E of 0.32. If that means nothing to you, all you need to know is that you get bright, vibrant images without any artificial tints. That’s great news if you’re playing games or streaming video, but even better news if you’re adjusting photos or trying to make the best out of your smartphone or action cam video. As for graphics, the IdeaPad 5 Pro makes use of an Nvidia GTX 1650, which means it’s well-specced against some of the more affordable gaming laptops and should mean you can get some great-looking games at 1080p, especially when combined with the super-speedy Ryzen 7 5800H.Also, as far as I know, Intel's H series is not actually a SoC with Raptor Lake cores, and is not made on legacy Alder Lake cores, despite the 13 series. Only the HX line is made with Raptor Lake cores. The IdeaPad 5 Series laptops are equipped with Intel's 11th generation processors or even the Ryzen 4000/5000 series with up to 8 Cores. Compared to their predecessors, these have improved performance and battery life. The 11th Generation Intel® CoreTM i5-1135G7 processor in the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Series combines careful design, and quality touches with more than adequate hardware. Impressive display with four-mode convertible laptops We measured a maximum brightness of 479 nits in the middle of the screen and 450 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of 10%. The Correlated Color Temperature on a white screen is 6290K – slightly warmer than the optimal for the sRGB standard of 6500K.

And if you need that little splash of GPU power, you can configure the notebook with the GeForce MX450. The next figure shows how well the display is able to reproduce really dark parts of an image, which is essential when watching movies or playing games in low ambient light. Thanks to its compact size and fairly lightweight design, the 14-inch device is also very portable and almost perfect as a companion for on-the-go use. High-resolution QHD displays produce images with crisp and clear colors that look accurate and realistic. Thanks to the device's ultra-narrow four-corner bezels, the screen is kept in sharp focus.Lenovo's IdeaPad 5 Series 11th Generation processors are powerful, combined with equally powerful hardware, making it an unmatched computing system. Starting with dynamic Soldered DDM memory for seamless computing, we've done everything possible to ensure that you have a consistent, robust experience. I’m not suggesting that this is some kind of secret superhero laptop, or even a Lenovo Legion in Ideapad clothing, but if you’re looking for a mainstream laptop that can do a little bit more, the Ideapad 5 Pro is a pretty tempting option. Design and keyboard Investing in a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Series 11th Generation laptop will be well worth your time and money if you need a long-term computing solution. Any gamer or designer who relies on a rich multimedia experience or requires a large amount of storage and memory will appreciate the peace of mind that comes with having their hardware kept up to date. It’s got an impressive sheet for an ultrabook, with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor, discrete Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card, as well as a 16-inch 2560×1440 2.5K QHD panel.
