The Hero(s): Tomasso - he was captured by some ruffians that work for the Doctor whom he and the Enforcers that work for Lucien have been searching for. The doctor is basically a mad scientist who is determined to learn the secrets of the immortals and use them to his advantage. The Doctor has hold up on an island near Venezuela where he keeps his immortal ‘subjects’ that he experiments on. the Grand Night is helter than a thousand months. The Angels and the Spirit descend therein by the permission of their Lord for (decreeing) every affair. Peace! it is till the breaking of the dawn."(Holy Quran, 97:3, 97:4, 97:5) Let us now review the days of joy in this blessed month. On 15th Ramadhan, in the second year of the Hijra, the Prophet became a grandfather, when son Hassan (‘a) was born to his daughter Fatima and Imam Ali (a). It was a very happy occasion for the Ahl-ul-Bait and none was happier than Prophet Muhammad (s).

You know the Immortals are being kidnapped and experimented on but you never learn why. What does the Big Bad guy want? I liked the introduction of Jet. He seems like he will be an interesting character and a good way to add in another connection to the non Argeneau clan, when he meets his life mate. I wonder who that will be? The second blow he suffered in that Year of Grief was the sad demise of his uncle and guardian Abu Talib. After losing his grandfather Abdul-Mutlib, at the tender age of eight, The Prophet was raised up by his dear uncle Abu Talib and his wife Fatima bint Asad as their own child. A close bond existed between uncle and nephew and as long as Abu Talib towering presence loomed large in Mecca, the infidels could never think of doing bodily harm to the Prophet (s).

Immortal Occasions

The plot starts around one of the worst romantic rescues in history and even with some humorous moments the romance seemed a bit rushed in some ways as did some other portions of this book but I did enjoy this story and was frustrated that we still have to wait to see (hopefully) some serious movement in the overarching plot which looks to be in the next book slated for Mar 2017. To be honest there is too much to tell for this to be contained in 1 book so it seems one of my favorite series will continue for at least a few more novels.

understandable. How strange it is though, that Zeus himself "is in awe of doing anything to swift Night’s displeasure." (XIV, 261) Night is more powerful than Zeus, but in a different way. She plays a role in mythology not as a personality, like any of the Olympians, but as a more ancient and more enigmatic force. She is not only darkness, she is the absence of light, the void which preceded the sun and the creation of earth and heaven. She is an absolute, above the gods themselves. As goddess Night, she is companion to day, but as her primordial, ineffable self she is at the crux of the universe. Even the great Olympians are but a drop of water in the sea of time, but Night who came before will almost certainly endure long after the end of the Olympian dynasty. So, Lynsay Sands totally amazes me. Twenty four books into the Argeneau series but, she always comes up with a new storyline and characters that are fun and exciting. She mixes the old with the new, always makes me laugh and definitely has me looking for a life mate. almost want to give it 4 but it is just not there. I enjoyed it and the series was a favorite so I feel compelled to bump it up but after reading so many better PNRs I just have to leave it at just good.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Immortal Nights although a bit silly and has too much fluff in the plot at times....was a fun and entertaining story with a bit of adventure and sensuality to curl your toes!!! The heroine: Abigail - while in her third year of medical school, Abigail had to drop out to take care of her mother who had cancer. After her mother passed away, she used up all of her mom’s life insurance and her own college fund to pay off the medical bills. Abigail then went to visit her best friend, Jet who is a cargo pilot who recently got out of the military. Jet talks her into traveling with him while he flies some cargo to Venezuela. Concerning forgiveness and granting of divine bounties on this night there is a justification attached. After fasting for forty days the Lord granted Prophet Moses (‘a) the Law (Exodus 24:18) and after a similar fasting period Prophet Jesus (‘a) was commissioned with his office (Mathew 4:2). Thus, there is justification in the Almighty's special grant of forgiveness and bestowing of favours to obedient Muslims, who fast as per His command for the whole month consecutively.

If Abigail only failing had been being a rainy day friend, I perhaps could have lived with that as a failing. Unfortunately, Sands has created a female love interest with low self esteem, who constantly whines about how fat and unattractive she is. Sure to some extent there are women with body issues but Abigail is extreme and constantly doubts that someone as attractive as Tomasso could possibly be interested in her sexually. She even wonders if Tomasso will want to touch her after seeing her in daylight as though she's somehow disfigured because she's fat. The whole thing fatphobic and downright anti woman. Would it really be so hard for Sands to write a female love interest who looks at herself in the mirror and likes what she sees for a change? Finally on the 21st of Ramadhan the Imam attained martyrdom, an event which plunged the Ummah into chaos and enabled the Omayyad tyrants to seize power and distort Islam. ¡va haber lucha o tal vez hablen mucho! ... By Khadija the Prophet had several children including son Qasim through whom his Kunya (agnomen) Abul Qasim is derived. But none of the children survived except daughter Fatima (s.a), through whose two sons Imam Hassan (‘a) and Imam Husayn (‘a) Prophet Muhammad's noble lineage (Seyyids) has spread out around the world. So I took a break from Sands and now I'm 5 books behind with another being published in September. Hopefully, I'll be ready for that one.

Abigail, is like many of the protagonists in that she doesn't really have many ties, thus making it easier for her to simply run off with her immortal lover. The one tie she does have have is her childhood friend Jet who she promptly forgets about the moment she lays eyes on Tomasso Notte. In my book, this makes her an awful person. For all she knew, Jet could have been taken prisoner. He could have been being abused and violated or even murdered but she was too busy getting it on with Tomasso to think about her BFF from childhood.

The year preceding his migration to Medina, the Prophet suffered two serious blows during Ramadhan, losing within a few days those two stalwarts of early Islam, his loving wife Khadija (s.a) and doting uncle Abu Talib (a). The year is known in the annals of history as the Year of Grief. Hence, every believer has been enjoined to keep awake the whole Night of Qadr in prayer and seeking from the Almighty, pardon for sins and bounties he/she desires for. I have to say that the story is predictable and formulaic with the exception of the mysterious Dr Dressler who is intent in capturing the immortals so that he can experiment on them (and perhaps find out their secret to immortality). But that's the thing - if you have been following the series like i do then you would probably diligently still read the books even when the stories are no longer like what it used to be (the stories used to have a fair amount of humour and uniqueness for each of the immortal characters but for the past 10 books or so the humour is no longer there and the stories have become a mere vehicle for something like a series "finale"). There was a point when the series was downright blah but with these two books on the twins the story is heading to a new direction with the addition of a real villain that adds to the long lost intrigue to the series.
