About this deal

a b c d e Oscar Beltrán Gómez, "Joseph Dirand, redefiniendo el retail", Axxis, 4 May 2015 (in Spanish) This project was also very important in my career, because instead of looking to create a new concept for a store I tried to recreate the brand into the context of a legacy that expressed the idea of the golden era of French couture. In the classical environment where Pierre Balmain had lived and worked I placed a sculptural mirror vertical monolith in the center of the room. That transported the historical context into the future in a strong dialogue between ornament and abstraction. I converted a retail space into a residential experience, and this got a lot of attention from the fashion world. Joseph Dirand sees the space and perspective of a place. Since a very young age that he has been training his eye, that is why he sees things differently. He is sensitive to the way lights work within a space, has a deep eye for the tiniest of details, and appreciates the rightness of color. The Chancery Rosewood Hotel, Mayfair Resort Building, English Commercial Development Images The Chancery Rosewood Hotel in Mayfair, London Charles Zana is a passionate French Designer and architect who combines art and technique in every one of his projects. He decorated and designed interiors for some of the biggest and most respected personalities and tastemakers. His main customers included Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, for whom he decorated the Château Gabriel, in Benerville-sur-Mer. Jean Philippe Nuel A few years ago I started to design pieces of furniture outside of the context of a project. They were not a separate element of a story, but an independent object. The pieces are very architectural, and my first series of furniture was a tribute to the modernist period through constructivist line and strong materiality.

Taking inspiration from the sophistication of the 1920s and the creativity and glamour of the 1960s, the design scheme will draw from a warm, rich color palette and feature refined, Art Deco-style detailing, walnut paneling and marble and brass accents, altogether channeling the ambiance of a traditional British gentlemen’s club. Slated to be both the first five-star hotel and first U.K. hotel to ever receive a BREEAM outstanding rating for sustainable development, the property truly showcases the powers of sustainability. If he does contemporary, it’s always with a weighty dose of history and references infused into it, to produce a timeless scenario.Zana designs the best spaces for his clients by establishing systems of habitation that they can easily appropriate. If I had to limit my shopping to one area in one city, I’d choose the 6th and 7th arrondissements in Paris. I love to wander these streets and visit galleries including Chastel Maréchal for 20th-century decorative arts, Jousse Enterprise gallery for furniture by Jean Prouvé and Pierre Jeanneret, and Galerie Downtown on the Rue de Seine. And I always stop at Librairie 7L, Karl Lagerfeld’s bookshop, which has an incredible selection of art, design and photography books. Jousse Enterprise, 18 Rue de Seine, 75006 ( jousse-entreprise.com ). Librairie 7L, 7 Rue de Lille, 75007 ( librairie7l.com ) I am currently working on two big residential buildings, in Miami and New York, in which I design both the architecture and the interior. We are also currently converting the previous US Embassy in Grosvenor Square in London, which was designed by the Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, into a luxury hotel for Rosewood in collaboration with David Chipperfield. I am also working on the most complex and exciting project I have ever worked on, a private explorer yacht of 118m that we have completely designed, from the hull and the superstructure down to the smallest interior details. It is a puzzle of millions of pieces composed around the idea of traveling in remote places to explore the beauty of this planet. The boat is under construction and will be in the water in less than two years. This was my first experience of boat building, so I had to learn everything and I surrounded myself with the best engineering team to support this vision. We are working on long term projects, so we don’t yet feel the impact of this crisis, though no doubt they will be affected in the future. I prefer to believe that this nightmare will soon find an end, and think about all the people who are really suffering today.

Because of the success of the Balmain store you designed many other projects for fashion companies such as Balenciaga in Paris, Chloé in Paris and Shanghai, Alexander Wang in Beijing, Pucci in New York, Givenchy in Paris. Do you have a special recipe for fashion stores? Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, which currently manages 27 luxury properties in 16 countries with a further 21 hotels under development, has announced that its second hotel in London will be sheltered in the former US Embassy and will be named The Chancery Rosewood.
