About this deal

A roomy and practical tent that will house 4 campers, and all their gear, in comfort. Available exclusively from GoOutdoors.co.uk What I can tell you is that it’s a great tent for a family of six. There are two bedrooms that can squeeze four people in each (or four rooms of two if you prefer). Secondly (and related) is that the very useful lantern mounting point on the ceiling has a fantastic cable management system - but it only goes down one side of the tent - towards the cable entry point. There are many reasons why the electrical supply wont necessarily be right there so it would be really useful if it had the velcro tabs going both ways. There is no built in groundsheet which is understandable but the terrible design of the sides of this porch means it will get wet and soggy in there. Why on earth didnt they fit a rain skirt at the least which could be pegged down? As others have mentioned there are no fixing points in the centre of the porch and this means that the material flaps around and lets wind in. It really does need those additoinal fixing points. Next season I may even put in a couple of eyelets and bands myself.

The first time I used it I went away to Aberystwyth for a week. It rained every day, was very windy but extremely hot and muggy. Like all tents it is uncomfortable in heat but you can open all the vents and doors to help. We've just been camping with some friends of ours and they have a Kalahari 8, and they were very positive in their recommendation of it. So much so that I thought we might invest in one ourselves as our growing family is needing a bit more room.So if you want a Kalahari tent, you can only buy it from Go Outdoors, at the price they dictate, and there is no price competition. Putting it away was a bit tougher and the bugger still doesn't want to get in the bag as neatly as it came out the first time! The cost brings with it some poorer quality construction and after 3-4 weeks of camping with it some of the zips are loose and the seams breaking away.

We bought a Kalahari Elite 8 from Go Outdoors this year as an upgrade on our trusty Outwell Birdland 5. Mainly because as a family of six who aren’t getting any smaller, we needed more space. All the space and practicality you need from a large family tent. Available exclusively from GoOutdoors.co.uk The gap at the sides was not too big though, about 4 inches at the most, but flush at the top and bottom of the dome. It also directed most of the rain around the outside of the tent, rather than into the door area. We couldn't get the roof properly taught, again, possibly due to the angle of the tent we attached it to, so water did pool a little above us, but at no point did it leak.Fantastic size (massive but without looking oversized) for our family of 2 adults, 2 children (aged 12 + 9) and dog
