This book showed a whole new side to Johnny, and it was well worth the time it took to get to it. I loved how he was able to figure out the priorities of his life, as well as how Shannon and his life at Tommen fit into it all. He made some tough decisions, but ultimately, I was so excited for the path he chose.

Despite a few irritations, I loved this two book series, and will most certainly be reading it again. Smiling, he lifted his arm and I slid into the space. "I like where we are, Shan." His words curled around my heart like a comfort blanket.I could hardly breathe, my lungs were screaming in protest, but I knew I would rather die than go up for air. I felt like I was starving for him and the emotions driving me forward were overwhelming." i knew this was going downhill when my love gibsie also started annoying me to ends. such good side characters absolutely wasted on this book istg- theres not one character i can say who i liked- except for joey lynch As I have already said, I loved all the characters, especially Johnny and Shannon's friend group. Especially Johnny (of course). The slow build of his and Shannon's relationship (while sometimes frustrating for someone used to reading a LOT of fast-moving smut romance) was SO worth it in the end. Blue balls and all. I wanted to give her a good day to make up for the bad ones, or at the very least, make her day a little better.”

I knew she was afraid of him, I understood what it felt like to be petrified of the man in our kitchen, but she was the grown up. She was supposed to be the adult, the mother, the protector, not the eighteen-year-old boy whose shoulders that role had fallen onto. Every few seconds my vision went blank and I knew that meant I must be drifting in and out of consciousness. I also knew that this was a bad sign, alerting me to the fact that he had hurt me worse than before. How was it?" he asked then, looking like he was genuinely delighted for me. "Same as before? Better? Worse?" Jesus," Dad muttered, running a hand through his hair in clear exasperation. "I don't know how I've survived living in a house with two bulldozers."I could hear the desperation in his voice, the last sparks of his faith in her fading out fast, as he implored her to hear him.
