About this deal

If you prefer to take a gentler approach towards your household cleaning, there are mould remover products out there to match. EcoZone’s non-toxic mould remover is free from bleach and can be used on a wide range of surfaces including grout, sealant and window sills. Wet & Forget does not contain any bleach, and so is not as harsh as other alternatives can be. The chemical can simply be diluted (5 litres of concentrate will make 30 litres of cleaning solution) and sprayed across surfaces, with no scrubbing, rinsing, or expensive equipment needed. Allergenic and Pathogenic mould groups are low risk, though they can still cause health issues. Toxic moulds are, as you might guess, high risk. Would suggest trying the Astonish Mould and Mildew remover. It is exceptional stuff, and I've had great results with it on anything I've tried it..." (Tried and tested by e1y1) Our verdict If you’re using the product for the first time, it’s usually best practice to test it on a small, out-of-sight area on the surface you want to clean. You should also be sure to follow any safety conditions that are stated on the product.

Yes - HG Mould Remover spray. It was recommended to me by a plumber and is very high strength and effective. Make sure you protect your hands and use it when the room is empty as it's strong and fume-y.” (Tested and trusted by Mumsnetter DorothyParkersCat) Our verdictI do love that it's an effective, gentle product in a generous 828ml bottle - plus it's cruelty free. I also love that this spray has been concocted with some naturally derived ingredients - but I'm not sure it'll make me swerve the bleach forever.

Astonish makes a mould remover in a green bottle with a blue trigger. I've used this on painted walls with no problems. Spray on, leave it for 10 minutes, and the mould disappears without needing much, if any, wiping.” (Vetted by Mumsnet user FortunaMajor)

Moisture in the bathroom is a bigger problem when it condenses as water on cold surfaces, which can be alleviated by keeping the room well heated. Even if repairs seem expensive initially, fixing problems sooner rather than later will prevent mould developing. Keep your home ventilated: Open windows as much as possible to let air flow in and moisture out. Place lids on pans when you’re cooking in the kitchen. Turn on extractor fans when cooking. Turn on the fan before you shower and leave it on afterwards (for 10-15 minutes). Simply spritz the product onto the problem area, allow it to dry and then wipe clean for almost instant results. In more serious mould cases, you might need to repeat the process to see true results. The spray also sanitises surfaces, minimising the chance of mould regrowth.

Inspired by cleaning sensation Sophie Hinchliffe, known as Mrs Hinch, lots of Facebook groups have sprung up with members offering one another their best hints and tips to keeping a tidy home.Humidity: From using an appliance like a tumble dryer or washing machine or going about daily tasks like taking a shower or cooking dinner, humidity is the most common cause of mould.
