Central Theme: The Old vs The New. A conflict that is symbolized by Kujirai and Kudou's tensions over her desire to try new things and Kudou's resistance and reliance in habits. Even more so in regards to Kujirai wanting a new relationship with Kudou, while he is still hung up on the previous Kujirai. Despite that however, they have remarkably different personalities. Kujirai is an introvert and largely unconcerned with the rundown atmosphere of the Walled City, open into trends and prefers new experiences. Kudou instead is an extrovert, traditional, a creature-of-habit and more concerned over the Walled City’s condition.

Blue Blood: Subverted. He is the bastard son of the head of the Hebinuma Group and his mistress, who took over when the previous heir died in an accident. The Hebinuma Group

Since it is still publishing, I don’t know where the story is going too but so far it is keeping me piqued with curiosity. I love how it’s displaying the elements of a dystopian utopia so beautifully, be it the art or the story. (It also reminded a bit of summertime render due to the Au début, nous nous laissons transporter par l’atmosphère particulière qui émerge de ce manga. Un sentiment de nostalgie s’empare également de nous, tout comme le personnage principal. Hermaphrodite: Albeit his body is mostly male and he identifies as male, he has both male and female genitalia. The resulting element of that making him unable to have children does upset him a little.

Driven to Suicide: Chapter 54 reveals she died by suicide, the method is implied to have been an overdose of sleeping pills. The reason for it is unclear. Genre-Busting: After its first volume being a simple office romance story with an unusual setting, the revelations at the end of the volume turn the manga into a mix of that with a drama about a woman's search for her identity and love, mixed in with a hefty amount of Mind Screwy sci-fi concepts and a head-scratching mystery due to said mind-screwness. Bespectacled Cutie: Even more than her current counterpart, seeing as she had a more lively personality and needed her glasses to see. MAYUZUKI: I actually started feeling attracted to the structural appeal of the walled city in my elementary school years. I saw movies, documentaries, and photo books, and I really liked the concept and structure. I had this feeling of “I really love Kowloon City” in my heart. That led to this desire of one day drawing a manga that's set in Kowloon. I had this desire for a long time, but I couldn't come up with a story that I thought would fit the setting. I kept my love for Kowloon deep inside of me and just figured that one day, I'll come up with a story that matches this. “It'll come to me.” And it did!
