For decades, Siegfried Laier of Moerlenbach, Germany, has been searching for an American soldier. More than half a century ago—when Siegfried was just a boy—he formed a friendship with the young GI. This reply is in response to Conrad’s post from July 21, 2020 part of which states “the only other likely possibility appears to be a Sergeant by the name of Alexander Bell. “Alexander” and his Army unit had marched into Moerlenbach on March 27th, 1945, where 4-year old Siegfried Laier and him first encountered one another. I came across an excerpt from a “Patton’s Panthers: The 761st Tank Battalion” that states that on March 30th, 1945, Sergeant Alexander Bell had successfully shot down a Luftwaffe plane over his command post in Langenselbold. Being that Moerlenbach and Langenselbold are only around 55 miles apart and that the timeline seems suitable, I am inclined to believe that Alexander Bell is the soldied in question.” Both, S.; Spiering, M.; Everaerd, W.; Laan, E. The role of the CHRNA4 gene in Internet addiction: A case-control study. J. Addict. Med. 2012, 6, 191–195. [ Google Scholar] [ CrossRef] [ PubMed] With respect to the ability to inhibit responses to certain stimuli, the individuals investigated by Sun et al. ( 2009) performed normally on a Go/No-Go Task, which measures response inhibition functions. This result on intact response inhibition is consistent with the findings by Dong et al. ( 2010) and also consistent with normal performance on the classical Stroop paradigm (see behavioral data in Dong et al., 2013b). However, in another study, Dong et al. ( 2011b) reported higher response errors in the incongruent condition of the Stroop paradigm in male Internet addicted individuals. In all these studies on inhibitory control, however, neutral versions of the Go/No-Go task or the Stroop paradigm have been used, meaning that all stimuli were unrelated to the Internet. One may hypothesize that individuals with Internet addiction react differently on stimuli, which explicitly show Internet-related content and have difficulty in inhibiting responses only to those stimuli, as it has been shown in substance-dependent individuals (e.g., Pike et al., 2013). This was reported by Zhou et al. ( 2012) using a shifting-task with Internet game-related cues. The authors argue that reductions in response inhibition and lower mental flexibility may be responsible for the maintenance of Internet gaming addiction.

Supervisory Board appoints Dr. Peter Laier, a veteran of the commercial vehicle and supplier industry, to ZF’s Board of Management Reid, R.C.; Karim, R.; McCrory, E.; Carpenter, B.N. Self-reported differences on measures of executive function and hypersexual behavior in a patient and community sample of men. Int. J. Neurosci. 2010, 120, 120–127. [ Google Scholar] [ CrossRef] [ PubMed] The original story states that after March 27, 1945 date that “Alexander made daily visits and over the next three months, virtually became a member of the Laier family.” So it could NOT have been Alexander Bell because he was still alive for 3 months after March 27, 1945. The almost simultaneous end of three appointments of proven, successful, and highly esteemed board members poses a particular challenge for the company,” says Dr. Heinrich Hiesinger, Chairman of ZF’s Supervisory Board. “We are, therefore, very pleased to announce two successors today. The succession process for Dr. Sauer is already in an advanced stage.” Dong, G.; Huang, J.; Du, X. Alterations in regional homogeneity of resting-state brain activity in internet gaming addicts.
