Description

The Dell Latitude 7430 features decent specs across the board, comes with a good display, is slim and lightweight, and looks stylish to boot. Pair that with above-average battery life and you've got a pretty decent business laptop offering here from Dell. It is a secret to no one that this laptop is pretty expensive. This is the reason we were left a bit disappointed when we found out that our unit (which we bought from the store) has a misalignment of the touchpad. Whether it’s a bolt not screwed in fully, or something bigger – we don’t know. What we do know, is that Dell should work on its quality control. Stuff like this may be overlooked in the entry-level devices because there we seek value, rather than the premium factor. But here, it is simply unacceptable. The time of dominance in the business market is long gone for old boys Lenovo and Dell. ASUS now creates great devices, while some underdogs like Dynabook and Fujitsu are producing some very convincing notebooks. Dell Latitude 14 7430 (2-in-1) features a Full HD IPS screen, model number Sharp T6YM4-LQ140M1 (SHP14E2). Its diagonal is 14″ (35.6 cm), the resolution – 1920 х 1080, while the color depth is 8 bits per channel. Additionally, the screen ratio is 16:9, the pixel density – 157 ppi, and their pitch – 0.16 x 0.16 mm. The screen can be considered Retina when viewed from at least 55 cm (from this distance, the average human eye can’t see the individual pixels). Frequency bands supported: LTE (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66), HSPA+ (1, 2, 4, 5, 8).[/ti]

Coming to the specs on the New Dell Latitude 7430, you've got a range of processor options, from the Intel Core i5-1235U to the Intel Core i7-1270P. The U and P here signify whether the processor is 15W or 28W, respectively. The unit we received came with the Intel Core i5-1235U processor, which is the weakest, and also the cheapest variant. You've got a 14-inch multi-touch display, with Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7. RAM is customisable up to 32GB starting at 8GB; the unit we received came with 16GB. For OS options, you've got Windows 11 Pro and Home, and Windows 10 Pro. There are also two options when it comes to build, one with an aluminium body, and one using carbon. The carbon body which we received is around 70 grams lighter than the aluminium body variant, bringing the total weight to around 1.33kg. Dell Latitude 7430 Build and Design Considering the Dell Latitude 7430 is a business laptop featuring a 12th gen Intel processor and Intel Xe Graphics, we compared it to the most recent 12th gen Intel business laptop we reviewed, which happens to be the Lenovo Yoga 9i. When considering a business laptop, there are a few factors that need to be taken into consideration. For starters, they generally tend to be light and compact, for those that are constantly on the move. A decent battery life is a given. Many business laptops now come with touchscreens as well, which makes it easier when doing presentations. They need to have decent specifications as well, with ample multi-tasking capabilities. Of course, even aesthetics can play an important role. With all that said, the laptop we're reviewing is the Dell Latitude 7430, which has been specifically designed for C-suite executives.

The Dell Latitude 7430 offers an express connect feature with a multi-network connection that enables simultaneous connections to two networks through LAN or dual-band WiFi. Dell Latitude 7430 review: Performance Dell Latitude 14 7430 (2-in-1)’s IPS touchscreen panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. It covers 96% of the sRGB color gamut, and achieves an enviably high color accuracy, thanks to our Gaming and Web design profile. While it uses PWM for brightness adjustment, it does that only until 74 nits, and the frequency is high enough to provide a comfortable experience. The next figure shows how well the display is able to reproduce really dark parts of an image, which is essential when watching movies or playing games in low ambient light.

Moving over to upgradability, Dell claims that the Dell Latitude 7490 supports up to 32GB 2400 MHz DDR4 memory that you can upgrade with two memory module slots on the motherboard. It also comes with a single removable M.2 SSD slot that users can replace and upgrade in the future. inch 16:9 FHD (1920 x 1080), anti-reflective, anti-smudge, 300 nits, 100% sRGB, super low power, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 DX, touch and pen support inch 16:9 UHD (3840 x 2160), anti-glare, 400 nits, 100% sRGB, super low power, low blue light, ComfortView Plus We tested the RAM on the Latitude 7430 using AIDA64. The laptop uses 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, compared to the LPDDR5-5200 RAM on the Yoga 9i. As such, the Yoga 9i does outperform the Latitude, however, the scores are still good when compared to laptops with similar configurations. Unfortunately, the Latitude is one of only a handful of Windows systems that have suffered a software hiccup and balked at our primary productivity benchmark, UL's office workflow simulator PCMark 10, though it ran PCMark's Full System Drive storage test without a hitch.

Premium look. Premium options.

The two bottom-firing speakers and the venting holes for better thermals are located at the footing.

This device is adequate for gaming, multi-media consumption, and other comparable tasks. The screen on the Latitude 7430 is clearly viewable outside as well, and we found that putting it at 50 to 70 percent in a well-lit room was pleasant for our eyes. Do you want to reinstall the operating system due to a computer crash, hard drive replacement, or other serious software problem with your Dell computer? On the other hand, the laptop performed just as we expected – it features a decent-enough cooling solution, which lets the CPU run hot, but also manages to get a lot out of it. Especially in short loads like photo editing. By the way, this would be a very good use scenario, also because of the display.

Ratings & Reviews

inch 16:9 FHD+ (1920 x 1080), anti-reflective, anti-smudge, 300 nits, 100% sRGB, super low power, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 DX, touch and pen support We test Windows PCs' graphics with two DirectX 12 gaming simulations from UL's 3DMark testing suite: Night Raid (more modest, suitable for laptops with integrated graphics), and Time Spy (more demanding, suitable for gaming rigs with discrete GPUs). The maximum measured brightness is 305 nits (cd/m2) in the middle of the screen and 287 nits (cd/m2) average across the surface with a maximum deviation of 9%. The Correlated Color Temperature on a white screen and at maximum brightness is 6090K (average) – slightly warmer than the 6500K optimum for sRGB. The higher number of cores and threads on the Yoga 9i helped it greatly with the Winrar benchmark, but again, the benchmark scores were almost the same in the 7zip benchmark.
