Of course graphics aren't everything, so let's talk about gameplay: At it's core, Ocarina of Time is top notch, however of course the mechanics feel a bit simple compared to to today's games. Don't get me wrong, it's still quite a a fun and polished game which is the mot important aspect of a game. It's quite impressive that the game plays better than some games that were influenced by it. East, Thomas (22 January 2013). EXPLORE THE CITY – With more than 20 distinct districts to investigate, LEGO CITY is a bustling metropolis that is ripe for exploration and filled to the brim with people on the streets to interact with, criminals to take down and hundreds of collectibles. As long as you're not expecting a AAA Nintendo-tier spit and angel dust-polished masterpiece, there's an enjoyable game here for those looking for a family-friendly open world adventure. The initialisation time is long. You sit through a series of postcards prior to the menu. After loading or starting a new game, you'll have to sit through the much maligned loading screen, and yes, it's quite long (long enough that they should have thrown in a low tech game of Concentration or something so we can pass the time), but loading times in-game are considerably shorter, and are not worth complaining about, really. That's two long loading screens before you can even jump into the game. The Making of Lego City Undercover! Max Meets... Loz Doyle from TT Games!". Lego Club Magazine. At the time production began, it was to be the first title featuring voice acting, and it was the first in the TT Games Lego series not to rely on a movie or comic license. The script, written by Graham Goring, made extensive use of parody and reference to both crime shows, and other movies and television series. The Lego City hub was based on multiple real locations. Nintendo was generally hands-off with the development process but would receive updates and suggest changes. James Sterling of Destructoid considered the environment to be dynamic, which many other critics considered to be the reason why the overworld was fun to continuously explore and drive around. [24] [4] Jeff Cork, writing for Game Informer, enjoyed the level of detail in the environment and found it enjoyable driving through it without an objective. [24] 4Players reviewer Mathias Oertel cited the worldbuilding as a reason that made Lego City Undercover "irresistible". [19] Destructoid called the overworld a "sprawling world of color and distraction". [20] Critics noted how objects in the distance would pop into view abruptly, [20] [19] and Edge felt that while it was not a major flaw, they felt disappointed that the "first major exclusive in 2013" for the Wii U does not run smoothly. [21] Sterling saw the collectibles as a reason to remain invested in the game after completing the story, [20] but Oertel contrarily referred to the overworld secrets as "irrelevant". [19] Bischoff appreciated that the collectibles felt like an addition rather a necessity, unlike previous games. [25] Other versions [ edit ] Lego City Undercover".
