About this deal

Promotes a Healthy Body Weight: Walking, like other forms of exercise, burns calories. Albeit not as many calories as running or biking burns, but walking still requires energy and therefore provides a calorie burn. For weight loss, increasing your intensity level, increasing incline level or walking for longer duration's will burn more calories. However, when using a walking workstation for the first time, you'll want to start out slow and gradually increase your speed and walking duration over a couple weeks time.

It's not quite as robust as the model in our round-up of the best treadmills, but it's still a useful tool (if you've got the money.) Here's what we think of the machine, after putting it through its paces in our testing centre. Set-up and usability: 4/5 stars

Read on to see how it compares to its main competition. Overview of the Lifespan TR1200-DT3 Treadmill Designed to support single users or small teams using a shared workstation, the TR1000-GlowUp treadmill is quiet enough for both home and open offices and durable enough to share with coworkers. The wheel on the front was shattered, the frame was bent, and the right extrusion arm was pushed slightly out of place. However, the treadmill was still functional. Yes – and no. Because the best under-desk treadmills only need to go a few miles an hour, they're not necessarily 'high performance' machines in the same way other treadmills are. So, if you're just buying a walking pad for home use and you're an individual of light-to-average weight, the Bluefin model would most likely fit the bill.

The app warns me that there’s a workout in progress, and that I should “press and hold the Stop key” to end my workout. Frankly, I don’t want to stop walking to sync my data, but even when I tried doing so, it didn’t seem to work. I press and hold Stop for a minute, and still, the app won’t let me sync. It will only sync if I unpair it, at which point it seems to lose all my stats (until I repair it again).

A pricey, but excellent under-desk treadmill

The original TR1200’s 131 lb. frame was substantially stronger and better made than TreadDesk’s lightweight 101 lb. frame and Rebel’s featherweight 88 lb. frame (see our review of the Rebel Desk for picture comparisons of frame construction quality). Frame flex and creaking are both problems we noticed with the Rebel, and TreadDesk has had similar problems reported. Cheapskating on the frame weight played a significant part in why those two companies are no longer around. The LifeSpan TR1200 had more metal and reinforced rectangular tubing than its cheaper competitors. The Mobvoi came through testing as our top-rated walking treadmill and marries walking pads with traditional treads quite nicely. The foldable design provides easy storage for space-savers, and there’s no need for construction know-how either. The model comes ready-made as an under-desk walking pad, and you can simply flip the side lever to lift the riser bar up, transforming it into a treadmill. It is simply not true that these are just re-skinned running treadmills. In addition to the console being different (obviously), they DO have different motors and pulleys vs. their running counterparts. (This is patently obvious if you look at pictures of, say, the TR1200i motor vs. the one in the TR1200-DTx) And if you ask LifeSpan about turning a 1200i into a desk treadmill, they will say the same thing.

It is also not recommended to store the LifeSpan TR1200 upright. Lubricant from the belt could drip down into the motor, thus damaging it if it is stored upright and leaned against a wall. Other under desk treadmills like the Redliro 2-In-1 Under Desk Treadmill is designed to be stored upright. The running surface of the TR1200-DT3 has a width of no less than 50.80 cm and is 160 cm in length. This allows you to keep walking comfortably and balanced, even at the maximum speed of 6 kmp/h, and keeps you fully focused on the job at hand. If the maximum speed of 6 kmp/h prevents you from getting any work done, you're also able to set the maximum speed of the treadmill to 3.2 kmp/h. When you leave the walking belt, Intelli-Guard stops it. The Intelli-Step pedometer feature counts your steps as you walk. The TR1200 has a desk console to control the treadmill’s speed. These figures were used to calculate a final score out of five, and decide which machines made our roundup of the best walking treadmills. How to choose the best walking treadmill What should I look for in a walking treadmill?Performance is where the LifeSpan Under Desk Treadmill TR1200-DT3 GlowUp excels. The 2chp motor works quietly and efficiently, meaning you can feasibly take a work call without worrying about being drowned out by the mechanical whirring associated with some treadmills.

Lifespan’s foray into active office workstations eventually attracted many competitors into the field (see our round-up review of all the under-desk treadmill bases and all the top-rated treadmill desk systems); most of which, at this stage of the game, have already joined the Dead Pool. Quite a few big brand names in cardio equipment and a few misguided startups chased this shiny object only to find out that building and marketing a good treadmill desk would take a lot more than just removing the large pedestal console and replacing it with a desktop controller to make room for an actual desk. In 2015 iMovR launched the first premium-grade, enterprise-class ThermoTread GT treadmill base, and a wide array of integrated treadmill desk systems build around it such as the Lander Treadmill Desk, giving Lifespan its first real competition. In 2022 iMovR ended production of the ThermoTread GT due to supply chain challenges and partnered instead with another competitor, InMovement, to bring out the iMovR Unsit treadmill base. Quiet operation - whisper-quiet 2.25 HP continuous-duty motor won't disrupt calls, coworkers, or your concentration Lifespan was the first legit player to commercialize the treadmill desk with a reasonably-priced range of products to suit almost every customer type. These included the flagship TR1200-DT3 office treadmill, the lower-cost TR800-DT3 (discontinued and replaced with the newer TR1000-DT3) and the heavy-duty TR5000-DT3 reviewed here, as well as the DT5 and DT7 integrated treadmill desk workstations with their manually and electrically height-adjustable standing desks, respectively. Tens of thousands were sold to corporations, government, education and residential home offices over the past decade. Lifespan treadmill desks would regularly appear in TV shows from The Good Wife to Alpha House. Although it has a weight limit, the build quality on offer is good and the JTX MoveLight is sturdy – even if it's a bit boring to look at. In our JTX MoveLight review we wrote that we returned to the treadmill regularly, even when the weather was good outside. A testament to the fun and smooth experience you get with this solid treadmill. Most users will settle at a speed closer to 2 MPH, but it’s good to have the option to go faster if you want.

Another tipoff that Lifespan’s marketing team doesn’t know the first thing about office fitness is that they’ve rebranded all their standalone treadmill bases from “-DT3”, e.g. the TR5000-DT3 is now the TR5000-Glowup. But the term “glowup” really gets us, because as we’ve long said, “if you’re sweating while treadmill desking, you’re doing it wrong.” Heavy Console: The TR800-DT3 console is heavier than it appears. This bodes well for stability. It displays calories burned, number of steps taken, time and distance. High-quality components suppress mechanical noise and subdue vibration, keeping your focus on the task at hand. We tested the under-desk treadmills on this list by walking on them! Each of our testers used the treadmills in their homes, walking on them during work. Our testers used the treadmills with a standing desk, to see how easy it was to walk when typing, as well as during phone calls and meetings, to see how disruptive it was for colleagues. Since the step-up height of your treadmill will take from the available height range of your standing desk, the low 11.7cm height will help you get the optimal ergonomic position from your desk.
