About this deal

Her neighbor, Mrs. Mallory, waited on her porch to once more try to encourage Laney to go on a blind date. She hinted that her grandson would be coming to live in her basement – and he just happened to be single. But Laney wasn’t interested. She figured the grandson was a lazy bum taking advantage of his grandmother. Laney was pursuing her law degree and was too busy to bother with men anyway. She went inside and her roommate, Tony, started in on her too about wasting her youth and needing a date. He was going out that night; even the energetic 70-year-old Mrs. Mallory was going to BINGO and had her eye on one of the men there. But nothing convinced Laney. Ohhhh! I am so loving this book. Bravo Summer! Another great book! Her books just keep getting better and better. This particular book was so much fun to read. I could not put it down. It had such a great storyline. One that really hasn't been written before. Look out Bachelor! You got nothing on Summer Cooper!

In this process, Professor Rauzon engaged thousands of volunteers to join in this habitat restoration and made a community committed to preserving the environmental integrity of this area. They call themselves “The Friends of Sausal Creek.” Snowy Egret (Photo/Mark Rauzon) After years of travel, Rauzon clearly has found his permanent roost at Laney. As a teacher of geography, he is an optimistic activist, grateful for the opportunity to educate the next generation, encourage their curiosity and critical thinking, and help them bear witness to the environmental changes so they might do something about it. I cross through the living room to the kitchen and push coffee cake crumbs into the sink. Coffee cake is a portal to old age. Laney is a studious, intelligent, serious young woman. She’s focused on advancing her degrees and eventually working hard as a voice for those who need to be heard. She doesn’t have time for dating, even though her funny roomie and her quirky neighbour (Jake’s Grandma) are always prodding her to go out and meet someone.

I think Grandma👵 was talking to Tony, cause she wants Jake and Laney to meet. Jake🐺🍆🌋 then finds out his Grandmother👵 also got him signed up for the same dating tv show! I loved this book. A man that has rose to success becoming a billionaire is tired of women wanting to be with him only for his money moves into the basement of his grandmother's home. That’s good, Gran,” I say, although she’s seen every episode a dozen times. This one aired over summer vacation. Gran and I watched it together while I put her blood pressure medications in her Monday–Friday/day–night pillboxes. It’s the episode where a student accuses her volleyball coach of sexual abuse, but it’s a misdirected cry for help. It isn’t the coach. It’s her mother’s boyfriend who’s been abusing her. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys deception, fun, love and a good dose of wanting to kill a certain side character *smile*

I turn to find Jenna, and then I stop myself. This happens sometimes. I want to tell her my latest findings, forgetting for a second that I don’t speak to her anymore. You’ll never believe this, I used to say. Whatever we were doing, she would stop and scoot closer, I’d feel her drawing near. What is it? I’m dying to hear. She’d stare; her eyelid would twitch. You always know the juiciest things. Jenna used to inhale the details, every morsel. Tell me what you know. She would beg me. As time goes one, it is nearing Christmas. Laney and her roommate decide to buy Christmas decorations and really liven things up for them. Apparently Grandma and Jake have too. This is new for all of them after some turns in their lives. As Laney is on the roof next door to Grandma's house, Jake is out cutting wood for his Grandma. A slip and almost fall has the two of them realizing they are neighbors. Rules are supposed to bend sometimes, and at other times break altogether. And break they do. Now the perfect spiced up hot happens.

Poppy scratches his head, searching for something or other behind him. His eyeglasses slide down his nose.

As the geography department chair and an instructor at Laney College since 2005, Rauzon has made it his life’s mission to teach the community about nature. He spends his time teaching geography and geology. This February, he was given the District 4 Local Hero Award for restoring the Sausal Creek watershed in Oakland. We’re terrible drivers,” Nico says, looking sweetly at Laney, as if he’s proud of how terrible they are. Sydney Bergen belongs on the Disney channel. She wrings her hands when she’s excited, and she only talks about one thing: horse camp. She goes on and on about blue ribbons, monster-size flies, horses named Warhol and Van Gogh whose tails are dyed with hot-pink and purple food coloring. There’s one cute counselor who’s a Junior Olympics bronze medalist. Every summer the challenge is, who will catch his eye this year? Cue Sydney’s Disney show theme song, with a neighhhh at the end. Hang on.” I lift the box. “You might want these, too,” I tell them. “Family invitations to your ring night. They won’t go out until the end of the week, but you can take some early so they don’t run out on you.”

There’s a card from Mom in the mailbox when I get home. Pink glitter with turquoise lettering: TO A REALLY COOL GIRL! I hope you have a great Tuesday, Laney and Nico. In a couple hours, your hair will dry. In every class, you’ll take notes and raise your hands. You’ll submit homework papers and move through the halls, you’ll laugh with friends, eat, drink. You’ll attend Mass. It will seem like you’re having an ordinary day. But all the while, you’ll be thinking about your morning together. All week long. All month. All year. All life long . . . you will think about this morning. Date the Billionaire is a standalone romance novella that is chalked full of entertainment. You’ll especially like the final ceremony...someone gets what they deserve!
