About this deal

You will need to understand the basics of macrame to complete this chair. There are written instructions along with drawings. The drawing can be a little hard to decipher. For the next layer, you are also creating square knots, but you are going to begin with the third cord and get 2 cords from each of your sections. Do the same square knot process until your strands are all used up at the end. To do the seat I just used this rope on the poster board to help hold the shape I wanted. I still did the Alternating Square Knot. I tied the seat knots a bit more spaced out because I wanted to have a different look on the seat. After I finished the seat I tied of the walls of the chair by doing a basic knot around the small hula hoop then I did another basic knot to tie the seat onto the hula hoop as well.

Macrame is such a versatile art form. You can make anything from jewellery, garland, door curtain, wall hangings, plant hangers to furniture. The possibilities are almost endless. And the supplies are often inexpensive. Do the same on the other side of the frame. When you're done, hang your macrame chair and see if everything is even and adjust accordingly and cut off any excess rope as necessary. Then, get your third 1 1/4-inch dowel and do the same thing but don't include marking out two inches. You only need to measure and mark three and a half inches on both ends for this one.

There are step-by-step instructions with a few illustrated pictures. We would not recommend this pattern for a beginner. The illustrated pictures can be difficult to interpret. Great item. This is a very good hanging chair. I was going to buy a swingasan from Pier 1 that was much more expensive. The only problem with those are they are very large and after taking the measurements it would not work unless you had really high ceilings. This is perfect for hanging in a room without taking up too much space. I just did a simple braid for the ropes that hold the chair up and I using a few piece of wood I had around my house I cut 4 pieces of the same length and drilled holes where the rope would go. The hardest part was making it level and tying around the wood evenly.

We would recommend this pattern for an advanced beginner to a more experienced macramer. You will need 2 circle rings, macrame cord, scissors and a ruler. All the measurements are shown before each step. There are no verbal instructions. Circular egg chairs can be unexpectedly deep and wide, and even the slimmer models can have a wide base stand, so make sure your favourite chair fits into your seating area and through whatever access you have into your garden first. How to care for your hanging chairGet one cord and measure the middle. Fold it there and grab the loop that you've just created. With the loop in front, wrap your folded cord around the dowel and pull the tail through the loop in front. The pattern is very simple and only uses square knots. This project could easily be completed in just a few hours. You will need masking tape and scissors, a 24” long wooden drapery rod with finials, 500 foot of cotton clothesline, and an 18” square throw pillow. This will make it easier for you to work your rope around the frame and create your macrame pattern for your macrame chair. You can tie a second knot after this and cut the ends accordingly. Then get your 1/2 inch rope and cut about 10 feet from it. Tie a knot with a loop at the middle. Step 5: Final Touches

Along with the wooden dowels, you will need 20’ of ½” rope, painters tape, 200 yards of ¼” macrame cord, a hanging chair mounting kit, hand saw, sandpaper, a drill with 5/8” drill bit, wood screws and scissors. After thinking about it for a while I figured out I needed a second hoop but I also needed it to be a bit lighter. So I used a smaller Hula Hoop and after I sprayed that white I placed it where the seat would go and to make sure it would fit.Of course a hanging egg chair takes up quite a lot of room, so you will need to consider where you can store it over winter. If you’re a believer that bigger is better, then the Greenstell macrame hanging chair will be perfect for you since it’s the largest currently available on the market.

This hanging macramé chair uses 2 hula hoops to give it, its fun shape. The Ovis macramé hanging chair uses metal and wood to create a rigid frame. The cotton ropes make the chair soft and comfortable. When you combine both features, you have a chair that is both supportive and comfy. First up, you have to create your frame for your macrame chair. You need to lay down your wooden dowels and measure them using your measuring tape.
