About this deal

I mostly had a lot to say about characters, and I think that is what makes this series so good. However, there is a lot to be said for the world in which these characters reside. Obviously Evil: Kallor, as the introduction makes clear. Despite being allied with Rake, Brood and the Malazans at the moment, he doesn't get any nicer.

Hetan and Cafal leave with the rest of the Barghast and run into the now mortal Tool and Kilava. Hetan and Tool become lovers. Erikson enjoys working on his novels in public places. Memories of Ice was completed at Bar Italia in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also wrote House of Chains, Midnight Tides, and The Bonehunters at the same location. [4] Badass Army: The Malazans (and especially the Bridgeburners) are a match for ten times their numbers, unless The Worf Effect calls for a new enemy to kill a few thousand of them. Redemption Earns Life: The Pannion Seer is given a second chance after the collapse of his empire by being reunited with his sister and being given a job that allows him to recover from the damage that he both suffered and caused.

I’m going to bask in my memories of this book for possibly the rest of my life. Not only this is the best book in the series so far, this has also become one of my favorite books of all time. Memories of Ice is deeply impactful and irreplaceable in content. It’s an epic tale of enormous proportion that could only be delivered by a masterclass fantasy author; Steven Erikson is definitely one such writer. Out of every book I’ve read, there are currently less than ten books on my “Masterpieces” shelf, and Memories of Ice is a welcome addition to that list. I’m completely floored and astounded by the greatness that Erikson has created with this installment. The experience of reading Memories of Ice has been frozen inside my brain, and not even Elsa has the power to let it go. Togg finds a human body in his warren. He sees an “opportunity” in that this mortal is “a mirror to him.” As he exits the valley, he runs into Onos T'oolan who says he is waiting on someone, and that they are in the ruins of Morn. He tells Toc that two months have passed since Adjunct Lorn was killed, and that imperial efforts to take over Darujhistan have failed. Toc asks him to help him gather food, water, and supplies to repair his bow. Tool agrees, but before they can start, Lady Envy appears with two large dogs at her side, Garath and Baaljagg. Tool notices that Baaljagg is an Ay, an extinct species of wolf that once coexisted with the Imass.

The Man Behind the Man: The Pannion Seer is first made out to be the Big Bad, then it turns out he is one of the Jaghut children from the prologue and was compelled to his actions by the Crippled God. Tool, the Shorn, once First Sword of the Logros T'lan Imass (First mentioned) [12] (First appearance) [6] Toc che in questa compagnia di guerrieri senza pari è fuori dalla sua dimensione, e che finisce catturato dal Pannion Seer in persona. The Second Collected Tales of Bauchelain & Korbal Broach (Collected Tales of Bauchelain and Korbal Broach: Book 2) Toc the Younger and Tool deepen their friendship while making arrows and blades from stone. When Toc sees a vision of Baaljagg's history as an Ay, Tool gives him an Imass name: Aral Fayle. Toc also witnesses Trake's death, and meets with Kilava who intends to go to Coral, not to answer Silvefox's summons, but to complete unfinished business. The rivalry between Tool and Mok intensifies when Tool sees Mok dismantle a K'ell hunter with ease. Lady Envy meets with K'rul who reveals that the warrens all feed on his blood, and that the Cripple God is poisoning him, and he needs Envy's help in bringing Toc and the Seguleh into the heart of the Pannion Seer's territory.
