About this deal

None of the musicians had played any of the tunes before heading into the first of two recording sessions in early spring of 1959. In fact Miles had written out the settings for most of them only a few hours before the session. CD Player D/A Converter or Processor Disc Player / DSD-capable USB DAC Hi Res Audio Player iPod Audio Portable DAP (Digital Audio Player) Software• Furniture Kind of Blue also benefited from Miles’ being signed to the leading major record company of the day — Columbia Records, a part of the CBS media conglomerate. Columbia had the means and wisdom to invest in cutting edge recording technology, and their own professional recording studio. This totally (and I say totally) blew the doors off my MOFI 45. Miles trumpet sounds so sweet oh my god it really is something you have to hear. I also would say this is by far the best of the three UHQR's I own and perhaps this is the best album I own to date.

It's the best selling jazz album ever, one of the most influential too, arguably the one that produced a shift from riffing on chord based tunes to modal excursions that gave musicians newfound improvisational freedom. Cynics and the selfish will react to yet another Kind of Blue reissue by claiming that "everyone" already owns a copy but of course that's not true. And no one owns a 200 gram UHQR Clarity vinyl copy pressed one at a time on a manual Finebuilt press. Trust me, you are not “all set”, unless to you this record is of minor importance or you don’t care to own what is clearly and easily the best sounding Kind of Blue. We finally received our copies of Kind of blue from the UK distributor, and upon listening to my copy, I had to reach out to say hello and thanks.

A must have! I have the MOFI 45rpm and I honestly think this one blows it away. Kudos to all involved in putting this masterpiece together!! Would become an issue eventually. Wear on the mothers or stampers will depend on how many copies are made from them. I don't know how many copies Classic pressed of the 33 KoB across 15 years and all of their vinyl formulations, but I'd believe it if you said the AP 25,000 exceeds it.

The original pressing is of course the “document of record” (pun intended). It has a romantic transient blur to it that’s ear-pleasing but clearly not what’s on the tape. Add the era’s relatively noisy vinyl (even when it’s “quiet” as you’ll hear, compared to the Clarity vinyl, which is really quiet). With ragard to Classical Court on AA, except for the moderator "Chris From Lafayette" - who really knows what he's talking about, and with whom I've agreed 98% of the time when I was still active on AA - most [and possibly all] of those posting there are wrong to a small degree or all the way to a very wide degree about they think, believe, and thus post about classical music. So, top notch release, pressing and presentation. I’m sure many listeners have reached out in a similar fashion. Typically, I never reach out to anyone unless it’s to complain. But the UHQR is an exception to that rule. BRILLIANT.

Really happy with this UHQR (number 7700) and surprised it is clearly better than both my Classic 33 and 45! Just sounds beautiful and alive! Well done Chad and Co.! Bullshit. I have been an audiophile for 38 years and I know for a fact that a price tag in and of itself has no effect on the transfer function of an audio signal. It's ridiculous to think otherwise. despite my mere 38 years in the hobby I am confident that 2 years from now I will still know that price tags do not affect transfer functions of audio signals. The lasting value of a recorded masterpiece lies not only in the notion of reaching and grasping the music itself, but in using it as a doorway to other pathways. Kind of Blue, it can be argued, earns its accolades less for its continuing sales or critical popularity, and more for its long-serving role as the portal for so many who come to jazz for the first time. During So What and All Blues, I heard the breathy saxes sound nicer than I have before. Generally, the tone of those saxes is anathema to me, but here it seems that they have changed timbre just slightly, and now I don't mind them. Also in All Blues, you can hear the details on everything the drummer does. What would be fun to do is to straingage a tonearm mount and measure how hard the record is pulling.
