About this deal

Idk I physically couldn't read anymore- the writing really wasn't for me, (nor was the dialogue or characters) 🤷‍♀️. I thought the mafia business was just enough - not so much that in took over, but enough to make it believable Bronson is in Darwin sorting out his bosses nephew. He’s then taken into hospital after being shot in the chest. When he awakes and hears a familiar voice he’s on his feet walking towards it. Despite the nurse telling him to stop. He pins the owner of the voice to the wall and sees her amber eyes. He can’t believe she’s here. After all these years. After searching to no avail. She’s here.

But there is more to Max Butcher than the cold, cruel facade he wears like armour. I know; I saw the broken boy inside him one day when we were only children. Unfortunately, her heart didn't get the memo, because her second secret want. . . is Max Butcher. I have so many words to say about this book but I find it hard to express how amazing it is. I won’t be giving any spoilers in this review because you just need to read it to believe it. I think I cried through the last 5 or so chapters. And I’m not a huge crier at all. I felt like the author completely tore me apart with her words. She made me feel like I was right their with them through this journey. I cried and laughed with them, I felt their sadness and pain. You will go through it all with them. I was so sad at the end, not because the book made me sad but because I could have read their story for days. I’m glad this isn’t the end of this series and we get Bronson’s story next. Just keeping my fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long. Anyway I was pretty on board with this book until the very end, just like the last book. The author throws us a punch to the teeth. This couple has suffered plenty, and the twist at the end, concerning their baby, hurt my heart and pissed me off. They didn’t deserve that. 🤬 Idk I physically couldn't read anymore- the writing really wasn't for me, (nor was the di

Max totally broke me though: in the best way: his all-consuming love for Cassidy: chapter 34 of Cosa Nostra absolutely destroyed me…and like Cassidy: I love Max Butcher: Menace. There’s a couple of twists, one I saw coming and one I didn’t. And that one ruined me. Like snot dribbling, ugly crying got me. And that friggin’ letter. I WAS A MESS!!! For me it wasn't even about what happened, but was about how annoying as shit the characters were 😭- or to put it more ✨eloquently✨: was about how unbelievably immature the characters were barely that far into the story- and how unlikeable they became because of it? I can't get over the fact that she wanted him to forgive her 🧍‍♀️.

I adored Cassidy and Max's chemistry in this book. They are from two different worlds, but compliment each other so well. Their love makes sense and Max isn't as big and scary as he shows himself to be. And their scenes were a mix of sweet and incredibly steamy. In heat?? Gross. That’s another thing with this book. Most of the dialogue was cringy like extremely cringy. The way the sex scenes were written, the “sex talk”. It was bad. But he finds me infuriating. A silly little girl. He wants to keep me out of his business and away from him and other men. He wants to protect my body - protect my innocence. the H is a 24 yr old bad boy mafia dude, he’s an elusive manwhore when he meets the h, commitment-phobic, but very protective and jealous/possessive of the h and surprisingly romantic - he’s got a vulgar mouth 😅

stars. I read this a while ago, so this review won't be very detailed, but this is a good read if you like the tropes of mafia, virgin girl / experienced guy, jealous /possessive hero, classy girl/ rough guy, and surprise pregnancy towards the end. The characters are charismatic with bold personalities that tug at your heartstrings. I quite enjoyed the contrast between Cassidy, the district's sweetheart, and the total alpha male vibe from the district's most notorious bad boy Max Butcher. "The Duet" is good girl meets bad boy, District style and I loved every minute of it.

Advance Praise

I was sad about how the book ended and he did not learn about what happened after, but that means there could be another book which I am hoping. I believe this book definitely is for mature readers and can be a standalone book like stated, but also makes me want to read the others to understand the story better. I loved how the author gave very descriptive details on what happened at times. It caused me to be able to visualize what was happening in that exact moment. I will also admit this was a book I was able to sit and read all day due to being so absorbed into it.
