Optiplex Family Brochure" (PDF). Dell EMC. Dell. Archived (PDF) from the original on 14 July 2020 . Retrieved 12 July 2020. Dell OptiPlex 9020 is no different from the other two models in x20 series. To upgrade the 9020 you need a standard ATX PSU and a 24 to 8-pin adapter cable. This adapter cable is to transition between the proprietary 8-pin slot and the standard 24-pin connector of the PSU. First off, I used a legacy MBR SATA SDD to fire things up, followed the tutorial and got to where my NVME was recognized as mass storage as expected. Then I cloned the SATA drive to the NVME using MiniTool. Duh, it didn’t work. Convert from MBR to GPT. Didn’t work. Play with BIOS settings, including custom boot setups to see if any of the boot manger files work (I now have 2 file systems- FS0: and FS1: from the NVME and SATA, respectively). Didn’t work. When two or more memory modules are installed, remove all the modules. (see your service manual), Reinstall one module (see your service manual) and restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, continue to install additional memory modules. (one at a time) Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error. One thing you can do is use M.2 add-in-card with NVMe/SATA drive for storage and reduce the cable clutter inside the case. Upgrading the case – case transplant The HDMI port is another digital video port you can use to connect external display. It has very similar capabilities to the DisplayPort with few exceptions. However, the Dell OptiPlex 7020 SFF doesn't have one. This is not a problem if there is on-board DisplayPort. Repeat this process for each expansion card installed. If the computer normally starts, troubleshoot the last card that youremoved from the computer for resource conflicts. If you can identify the card that failed, replace thatcard. If none of the cards failed, replace the motherboard.

Dell OptiPlex 7020 - SFF - Q&A

The officially certified model is the Crucial certified OptiPlex kit, but you call use all kinds different Vendors. The important bit is to use a 1600 MHz CL-11 memory. Memory upgrade for Dell OptiPlex 3020 The DisplayPort (DP) is the most widely used digital interface for transmitting digital video and audio between display devices and PCs. It is good to see that the Dell OptiPlex 7020 SFF is featuring a DisplayPort 1.2. The post version is important if you target higher resolutions with high refresh rate. Although, ver. 1.2 is completely fine for most users, if possible, aim for the higher versions DisplayPort. This model has a good price point, delivers decent FPS, and does not require any addtional hardware upgrades. I’m still working through the list in a hope that I find a suitable solution but one post (Alvin03/02/2022) I couldn’t work out, he installed Win 10 20H2 (over the previously installed Win 10 21H2). What is Win 10 20H2, a version of windows, if so is this worth a try? I’ve been trying again to resolve my boot up issues. I have started to go through the replies in more detail, starting from the top and have so far tried the following without success (these are in addition to the other things I’ve tried in my previous post.

For the 3020 you need to install it into the PCI Slot closest to the Power Supply. Optimise BIOS SettingsThanks for any insight you can provide on the function of all of these partitions in different configurations, and what should be correct for using a NVME as a boot drive in the Optiplex 9020sff. If you can troubleshoot, narrow down the issue by reseating the PCI cards, and removing them one by one to determine which card failed. USFF chassis was released separately and resembles the OptiPlex 9xx case, Does not support Quad Extreme Remove all memory from personal computer(includingany graphics cards) and determine whether the LED code changes.

Took awhile as I tried to convert a VHDX to HDD (which worked before) on the NVME but that failed as I was trying to do it from a MBR USB Windows PE ISO but that started acting strangely after the UEFI upgrade to the BIOS and the programs gave errors. Also my W10 MBR USB start disk wouldn’t function even with the Legacy boot option enabled in the BIOS. Interestingly though the MBR USB had no problems with the Linux ISO’s…go figure, seems to affect only Windows systems…LOL CSG-EN-XX-ALL-OptiPlex-XE2-Technical-Guidebook.pdf" (PDF). Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 and an 8th generation Intel or newer processor. Some models in Series 5 between 2015 and 2019 shipped with TPM 1.2, but are capable of meeting these requirements with a firmware upgrade to TPM 2.0 and the appropriate minimum CPU. Install them (one at a time) until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error. If only one memory module is installed, try moving it to a different DIMM connector and restart the computer. No, you can’t use PCIe to NVMe M.2 adapter on Dell OptiPlex xx20 series to boot any OS. Although there is a BIOS mod you can do to force NVMe support, it is a complicated setup. In the end you won’t see any difference between the SATA SSD and the NMVe drive boot drive. Yes I use paid version of AOMEI Partition Assistant, Migrate OS is an icon at the top ribbon 5th icon from the left (too bad I can’t put screenshot here). If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, then remove a different card and restart the computer. I will look at everything again, I can’t see that I’ve done anything wrong, but I now have more experience than when I started this process and you never know. Lohr, Steve (1993-08-18).
