About this deal

I haven't had a chance to really push it yet (as I live in an apartment) but it appears to have the ability to get a good bit louder than I expected (wow).

As you can see, there are a lot of things that can be considered as major advantages of that combo. The Crush 35RT sounds fantastic and it gives you access to a lot of different tones suitable for lots of different styles of music. On top of that, it’s really lightweight, so it’s really easy to carry it around. Who needs anything else? It has a twin channel, high gain preamp design with lots of great tonal options, from crispy clean, to Orange’s signature bluesy tube-like crunch, and a high-gain metal tone without losing the richness and clarity. Switch between the clean and dirty channels through the amp’s top panel or using the optional footswitch. For a secondary, practice setup in my home office. I was duped by the positive grid marketing a couple of years ago, which I got for when I dont have access to my better stuff at home—and wanted an actual amp to replace that muffled, app-dependent, DSP trash. At this point, a british style gain along with some cleans is what I do, so decided to try solid state (analog) expecting I could get god gain at lower volumes along with lots of clean headroom also.On the other hand, some guitarists complain about the quality of the built-in reverb in that combo. However, it’s really subjective – there’s still a chance that you’re going to love it! Surely, using a high quality reverb pedal will always be a better choice anyway. In comparison with Orange Crush 35RT, it’s not that powerful. But trust me, 15 Watts is more than enough for playing in your bedroom! On top of that, the 3-band EQ gives you even more control over your final tone. The only thing I had to complain about was that there was no master volume, but I solved this problem by buying a cheap Behringer volume pedal and plugging it in last in my FX loop. Now I can find my the perfect tone and turn it up in down without loosing any of the tone. The Orange Crush 35RT is Orange’s most powerful Crush guitar amp. It has a built-in tuner and reverb, 2 footswitchable channels, and an effects loop, making it an incredibly versatile and hugely usable 35 watt amp.

For the vast majority of players, a good quality 30 watt amp will provide more than enough juice to fill all but the very largest of rooms, all the while pushing those power valves/tubes to realise their glorious harmonic potential. So, in conclusion, the advice here is to be realistic about what situations you’re likely to find yourself in performance-wise, and choose an amp which will meet those needs without going completely over the top. What I especially like about the 35RT is how pure the clean sounds are. It is much better than my Marshall or Crate amps. Opinions may differ but this user is a very happy camper. If my Orange amp was stolen or destroyed, I would instantly buy a new one. The Orange Crush 35RT is Orange’s biggest Crush guitar amp. It’s built-in tuner and reverb, 2 foot-switchable channels and effects loop make it an incredibly versatile and hugely usable 35-watt amp. Orange's trademark CabSim feature opens up a whole new world of headphone / recording options for your sound, allowing you to accurately emulate the sound of a mic'd Orange 4x12 cabinet loaded with Voice of The World Speakers and making any recording sound as authentically "Orange" as is possible without having to make use of the much bigger and more cumbersome alternatives.

Buffered Effects Loop

This year I started jamming with a band again and discovered no matter what I hooked up for cabinets and no matter what tubes I put in, I didn’t have the clean headroom I wanted at jam levels. (The crunch was amazing though). I bought this amp on a whim after my old Peavy died on me and was blown away by how great the sound was. My old Peavy never even came close to what this thing sounds like! The clean channel was bight and crisp and the dirty channel has some awesome bite to it but not the type of bite that will make your ears bleed. It's more like a mellow tube distortion that just feels right. Another reviewer said it was the tubyest solid state amp you'll ever hear. He hit it right on the money!

I have a relatively small space to play - a basement room of about 15x12 with low ceilings. I could't get the tone I wanted out of my tube amp (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III) without making my ears bleed, and another amp a friend had suggested (Roland Cube 30) was adequate, but certainly not capable of mesmerizing tone (at least, not from the many variations I tried). I called Sweetwater for advice, and they recommended this amp (Orange Crush 35RT). how wrong was I? all I can say is this amp is by far better than anything else I listened to in the same price range, it blows away the fender Mustang IV on sound quality with ease, made the Line 6 range sound like kids toys, build quality is solid the finish looks grate, I cant find anything bad to say about his amp, although I have only owned it for just over a week, but I can tell already, I will be keeping this for a long time to come. With detailed saturation and versitility, you get to experience a complex range of sound options hitherto unheard of in a practice amp. Play everything from crispy clean, to Orange's signature bluesy tube-like crunch, to an ultra-saturated high-gain metal sound without loosing any of that exceptional richness and clarity that Orange pride themselves on producing. Switch between the clean and dirty channels either via the amp's top panel, or via the optional footswitch. Controls (Left to Right): Clean Volume, Dirty Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Dirty Volume, Channel Selector Switch The drive channel sounds good up to a certain point, but then it kind of turns to mush (at about 8 3/4 and higher). I didn't really expect to get great high-gain sounds from it though, so this wasn't a disappointment. Lower gain bluesy type stuff sounds great though. I haven't used it with pedals yet so I can't comment on how it takes them.

Building on the huge success of their Crush Pro series, the high gain preamp delivers everything from blissful cleans, to classic Bluesy Orange crunch all the way through to full-bodied, ultra-high gain Metal distortion. Clean and Dirty channels can be switched on the amp's top panel or remotely using the optional footswitch. The custom-designed Voice of The World Speaker housed in the Orange Crush 35RT has been specifically created to deliver the perfect balance between modern low-end punch and vintage highs, meaning that no matter how hard you push it your guitar's tone remains intact, and the signal remains crystal clear. The difference between the tone I get from this amp and the Cube 30 is night and day. I get really good tone at the lowest volumes, and great tone when I turn it up a bit (but still not so much I'll wake the wife and kids at night). And the amp has plenty left to go. Amazing sound from a solid state amp! I've been searching for tone for 50 years. I've had tubes and SS of great quality and weight. Something was always not satisfying to me. Here's how I run it. I place my modulation effects with compressor (first) in the S and R. of the Rt35. Then, I run my guitar direct to a Walrus EB10, volume pedal and East River Drive and Front end amp input. I have two expensive and remarkable tube amps but needed, (ok, wanted), an amp I could use for practice and grab and go situations. I am not a fan of digital amps, which is just my personal preference but I did have a very nice little Vox Pathfinder 15r a while ago that was pretty amazing. It was constantly mistaken for a small tube amp do to the great tone and big sound it produced.

Our commitment to analogue amplifier circuitry in a digital age ensures Crush amps possess the lively feel and responsiveness that Orange is famous for, inspiring guitarists to play their instruments, not the technology. The Crush 35RT’s highly effective 3 band EQ section allows for huge control over your sound, from bold vintage colours to scooped modern tones. Twin Channel, High Gain Preamp Design With that said, I swapped the speaker out with a Celestion Alnico Gold and other than the Gold not being as harsh (not that the Orange speaker is harsh compared to other ceramic magnet guitar speakers) and having a bigger bottom end, there wasn't that much of a difference in the overall character of the speaker. At this price point, that's pretty darn impressive if you ask me. The headphone/line output includes Orange's CabSim which faithfully emulates the sound of a mic'd Orange 4×12 cabinet. Use your headphones for silent practice or connect to a mixer/recording console to capture Orange tones in the studio. Twin Channel Design with High Gain Preamp, 3-band EQ, Fully buffered effects loop, reverb, chromatic tuner, CabSim-Loaded Phones Output & Aux In

Voice of the World Speaker

You see, without getting too technical, a good chunk of your tone will come from the power amp valves/tubes, and these only really get going when there’s some volume being pushed through the amp. And realistically, you’re not likely to be able to enjoy a 100 watt amp to its fullest glory without making your ears bleed.
