Directions: While the 'mixing bowl' composition is useful for knowing what went into the food, it doesn't always reflect what your dog is actually eating. This is because the processes that turn the ingredients into the finished pet food can significantly alter the relative weights of the ingredients. At Burgess, all of our kibble for dogs is made using thermal extrusion. The process involves grinding down a range of quality ingredients into a fine flour and mixing them together. The Paul O’Grady dog food range is made with only the finest ingredients and created with your pet’s distinct needs in mind, to provide them with delicious meals, each and every day. It provides all the vitamins and nutrients your pet needs to help keep them happy and healthy, so there’s no need to add anything else to their diet – except for fresh, clean water. The formulations Burgess uses are designed to ensure that our dog food nuggets contain the right level of nutrients after processing. What range of dog food kibble do you provide?

O’Grady is one of the highest profile dog lovers in the UK, having presented the Battersea-based For the Love of Dogs for nine seasons. Dogs are classed as ‘adult’ from around 18 months, although this depends on their breed. Smaller breeds tend to hit their ‘teenage’ adolescent phase earlier than larger breeds who develop more slowly. A small breed dog will often be mature by around a year old, whereas a giant breed can be two years plus before they’re classed as an adult. If you’re not sure whether your dog has reached adulthood, ask your vet for advice. We’ve also developed foods to meet the specific nutritional needs of working and sporting dogs, Greyhounds and Lurchers and dogs with sensitive stomachs as well as a light variety for dogs who need to lose weight or are less mobile. And we’re very proud of our Paul O’Grady’s dog food range, which comes in No Nasties and Hypoallergenic varieties, so you’re sure to find a recipe that’s just right for your canine chum. When should I move my dog to adult food? We’ve also developed kibble dog foods to meet the nutritional needs of working and sporting dogs, Greyhounds and Lurchers and dogs with sensitive stomachs as well as a light variety for dogs who need to lose weight or are less mobile. How often should I feed my dog? The LGBTQ+ rights campaigner Peter Tatchell remembered O’Grady as “one of the loveliest people you could ever meet. Everyone whose lives he touched will miss him greatly, as will those who enjoyed his wit and admired his compassion”.The optimum diet for your dog is one that supplies the correct number of calories and balance of nutrients for their size, life stage and lifestyle. A high-quality adult dog food will contain carefully balanced nutrients and dietary components – such as easily digestible protein, fat and carbohydrate – along with vitamins and minerals like zinc to support skin and coat health and calcium to support healthy teeth and bones.

Chris Sherwood, chief executive of the RSPCA, also paid tribute. He said: “Paul O’Grady’s love for animals and the incredible way he told their stories inspired countless families to re-home rescue pets and give them a second chance of happiness. His tireless campaigning saw Paul recognised with an RSPCA Animal Hero Award for his outstanding contribution to animal welfare, while he once adopted a little lamb Winston from us who had been rescued from a wheelie bin. O’Grady said: “Puppies have very particular dietary needs as they grow, so I’ve worked with the experts at Burgess Pet Care to rustle up something delicious that’s been developed just for them. Their size is also an important factor in how much adult dog food you should give them. Small, not very active dogs need only about 185 to 370 calories daily while large, active canines may need between 1,000 and 2,000 calories.Kibble can be made via two manufacturing processes – either by cold-pressed extrusion, or thermal extrusion. Cold pressed kibble or nuggets are made at lower temperatures using high pressure to bind the ingredients together. Nuggets made via thermal extrusion are cooked at higher temperatures. Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned. Dogs aren’t, as is often believed, classed as carnivores. They’re actually omnivores, which means they benefit from a diet that contains both animal and plant-based foods.
