About this deal

I had high hopes for the Poco X3 NFC’s gigantic 5,160mAh capacity battery but unfortunately, it failed to make it into our top 20 list of the longest-lasting smartphones. Running for 18hrs 4mins on a single charge while playing a looped video, the Poco X3 NFC is still a solid performer, though, and it should last you an entire day’s worth of heavy use without needing to top it up throughout the day. The Poco X3 NFC’s CPU performance is above average, then, but its gaming power is through the roof. B1 (2100) , B2 (1900) , B3 (1800) , B4 (1700/2100 AWS 1) , B5 (850) , B7 (2600) , B8 (900) , B20 (800) , B28b (700) , B28a (700) , B38 (TDD 2600) , B40 (TDD 2300) , B41 (TDD 2500) As you’d hope, then, Android runs perfectly on the Poco X3 Pro too. However, the truly notable performance improvement over less powerful phones like the Poco X3 NFC is in high-end games such as Fortnite and ARK: Survival Evolved.

A 5160mAh battery sees the Poco X3 NFC coping well with the day-to-day grind. If you largely restrict your use to mundane tasks such as messaging, calling, and the odd bout of web browsing, or if you drop the screen refresh rate to 60Hz, you could quite easily get two full days out of it. There’s really not all that much to say about the latter two, other than the fact that they’re fairly inconsequential. However, the main two sensors are quite a bit sharper than you normally get for the money.

Budget Design

On paper it has typical hardware for this class. There's a 48MP primary camera, a basic 8MP ultra-wide,and two terrible 2MP macro and depth cameras. We’re fine with the numbers. We're used to ‘filler' cams in affordable phones.

The Poco X3 seems to have the most measured approach to exposure and contrast. It’s better at preserving highlights than the Redmi Note 9, and doesn’t try as hard to make images pop through sharpening and contrast-boosting as the Samsung. The one other quirk is unlikely to bother too many people. Xiaomi puts two color intensity modes in the Poco X3 Pro, Standard and Saturated. Both are ‘hotter’ than the traditional sRGB color standard, so there’s no true relaxed color mode here. But this is probably more a sign we spend too much time looking at phones than anything else.
