And even when we went pretty hard on our HIIT workouts, the shoe never got uncomfortably hot. That's because of its outstanding breathability, which scored a perfect 5 out of 5 in our lab test. The smoke we pumped into the shoe simply passes through the upper as if it weren't there. Another aspect to like about this shoe is that the refined and reworked upper breathes well and is lightweight. This shoe features a textile upper construction and doesn’t have a ton of overlays like the previous Reebok HIIT TR. This is nice because it gives this shoe a lightweight feel which you want for HIIT workouts. And perhaps the best thing about performing HIIT workouts in this shoe is that our feet barely get warm even after extended sessions. Its breathability is so good that we scored it a perfect 5 out of 5 in our lab test, as the smoke we pumped into it passed right through the upper with no trouble at all. The Dropset Trainer is a tremendously stable shoe that keeps our feet well-supported over the course of our HIIT workouts, whether we're doing burpees jump squats, or mountain climbers. That's mainly due to its impressively wide platform, particularly in the forefoot. We measured its midsole width in the forefoot to be 5.7 mm wider than the average training shoe. And thanks to its TPU sidewalls, it also scored a 4 out of 5 in torsional stability, where 5 is the stiffest.

When you’re doing a HIIT workout, you do not want as much heel-to-toe drop as a weightlifting, or even a running, shoe. The forward angle will instantly detract from your stability. To ensure that your weight remains centered and your foot stable, look for a shoe with a heel-to-toe drop of around 4-6 mm (but no more than 8 mm). Reebok HIIT 2 Sizing Thoughts: Go true-to-size unless you feel like you normally have a lot of room in the toe box of your shoes. If this is you, then size down a half size. When these findings were published, trainers all over the world began to take notice. Over the last decade, there has been an explosion of interest in HIIT workout training. The promise of a more efficient and effective way to meet one’s fitness goals is very attractive. This model does have external heel counters, but they’re lightweight and don’t add a ton of bulk to this model. If you’re training in hot settings or classes, you shouldn’t have a problem with your feet getting overly hot in this shoe due to its overall breathability. That being said, I think if you normally find that you have ample room in the toe box of your true-to-size shoes, then you’ll definitely want to size down a half size for the Reebok HIIT 2. The first major difference is the upper construction and materials used in each model. The Reebok HIIT TR has a mesh upper construction with multiple layers throughout. The Reebok HIIT 2’s upper is made with a singular material with no external stitches. This HIIT 2 also features heel counters for additional boot support. Both shoe’s uppers are solid, in my opinion. Heel drop is the distance between the height of the heel and the height of the toe. The baseline heel drop would be if you were working out in bare feet. In that case, your heel drop would be zero as the heel and the toes are the same distance from the floor. Most running shoes have a heel drop of around 10 mm. This higher heel position allows for cushioning under the heel and encourages a heel-to-toe strike running action. You want a shoe that has plenty of rubber traction in the forefoot and the heel. Basically, the more rubber underfoot, the greater your sole traction will be.

The benefits of this type of workout for runners include building muscles in your legs and feet which long term can aid injury prevention, and also improving up your cardiovascular fitness, which can help with performance in faster parts of your training, or that sprint finish at the end of a race. Reebok takes extreme care in ensuring our goods are of the highest quality. However, if for any reason you find a fault with one of our products, you will be entitled to the following remedies under the Australian Consumer Law: In assessing a claim for faulty goods, the Australian Consumer Law allows us to take into account how much time has passed since you bought the product, how the product has been used, the length of time for which it is reasonable for the product to be used and the amount of use the product could reasonably be expected to tolerate before the failure becomes noticeable. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) was ‘invented’ by Japanese Olympic Speed Skating Coach Azumi Tabata in the mid-2000s. Tabata had his athletes perform eight rounds of a workout that involved twenty seconds of sprint work followed by a ten-second recovery on a stationary cycle. When the athletes were tested after 8 weeks on this program, it was found that all of their health parameters had significantly improved. Take a look at the key findings: The Adidas Dropset Trainer is our top stability training shoe for HIIT workouts as we felt it delivers outstanding support while doing dynamic movements. It is also very flexible and immensely breathable, which make it such a hit for HIIT workouts.

Wrapping Up

We can't help but feel super fast while wearing the Nike Zoom Metcon Turbo 2, especially when doing exercises like jumps and sprints. Its responsive midsole, particularly the Zoom Air unit in the forefoot, adds a nice pop of energy to push us even farther. That midsole foam, which we measured to be 17% softer than the average training shoe, also offers excellent cushioning that keeps our feet well-protected during those speed-oriented exercises. Using an HC durometer, we discovered that the outsole of this shoe has a rating of 85.5, which is higher than the 84.4 average. The firmness of the sole allowed it to resist punctures caused by pebbles and other debris that are commonly seen on outdoor surfaces. If your HIIT workout involves jumping to the sides, such as when doing lateral jumping lunges, the traction of your sole is going to determine whether you perform the action fluidly or whether you end up sliding, and potentially twisting an ankle.

Exchange or repair if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure is not a major failure.

Most shoe manufacturers do not have a separate HIIT shoe category. But they will have a cross-training shoe category. Cross-training shoes are designed to meet that middle ground between a weight training shoe and a running shoe to meet the versatile needs of the average gymgoer. Personally, I like this for HIIT training because we don’t always want a super plush shoe for this style of training especially when doing plyometrics and other bounding activities. Whether you’re doing lateral jumps, box jumps, or ballistic movements, this model’s midsole provides enough support without losing its stability edge. For lifting weights, the Reebok HIIT 2 does surprisingly well. When you have cross-training shoes dedicated to HIIT workouts it’s normal to see their lifting performance go down slightly. In the Reebok HIIT 2, their performance does fairly well for what this shoe offers and if you get this model for casual weight lifting, then I think you’ll like them. Compared to the Reebok HIIT TR, I do think the Reebok HIIT 2 takes a slight edge for performance, but there is one con to note with this shoe.
