If you have a Honeywell thermostat that uses batteries, you may need to change them from time to time. Here’s how to do it:

Senses the air temperature in the room and switches the heating on when the temperature drops below the thermostat setting. Once that temperature has been reached, the heating will turn off. My initial thoughs were that I could simply wire the reciever using the existing thermostat connections. However this doesnt seem possible since the existing wiring has live/neutral switched on & off by the programmer and the new received needs a permanant live connection. Thanks to the Salus RT500RF featuring frost protection, you won't have to worry about the pipes freezing as when it's activated your boiler will be kept to 5 degrees when the heating isn't in use. This is just enough to prevent freezing and won't have a huge affect on your heating bills. LCD Display With the cover removed, you should be able to see the batteries. They’ll likely be arranged in a row or in a small compartment. Take note of their orientation, as you’ll need to insert the new batteries in the same way. Step 4: Replace the Batteries There's also 7 day programming if you'd like your heating system to automatically operate in the same way every day. Frost Protection

Now, grab your fresh batteries and insert them into the thermostat. Ensure they’re aligned correctly, with the positive and negative ends matching the markings in the battery compartment. Step 5: Test the Thermostat Make sure that the thermostat is set to the correct temperature. If it’s not, adjust it and see if that fixes the problem. Most thermostats will display a low battery symbol or warning message when it’s time to replace the batteries. Conclusion Generally, you should change the batteries in your thermostat once a year, or when the low battery indicator appears. Insert the new battery into the compartment, making sure that the positive and negative terminals are properly aligned. 3

The cold winter months are when your boiler is at its most vulnerable. Cold temperatures can lead to pipes freezing (condensate pipes are at most risk), which can lead to your boiler breaking down and a potentially hefty repair bill. Gently remove the old batteries from the thermostat. It’s a good idea to dispose of them properly, as they may contain harmful chemicals. If you’ve ever wondered how to change the battery in your Salus RT510TX, wonder no more! Here is your solution: Now that your thermostat is off, it’s time to remove the cover. For most Salus thermostat models, you’ll simply need to gently pull the cover off. However, if your thermostat has a screw-secured cover, use your small screwdriver to remove the screws before pulling the cover off. Step 3: Locate the Batteries That should then function, it is quite common however for Salus products to be faulty from new so look out for that. You should also avoid interference with the radio frequency by installing away from TVs, radios and computers.
