Career-Ending Injury: Masaru the Triceratops was once one of Japan's most popular captive dinosaurs, but he accidentally broke one of his horns. Although the injury was ultimately superficial, his popularity plummeted, leading him to be sold off to Dinoland and replaced by another Triceratops with fully intact horns. Also, the art... I don't really like it. Although most the times I do like older drawing styles, but in this case, I don't. One chapter in and I realized, they can talk with their mouth closed and the seem to be able to jerk the edges of that tiny winy mouth up ridiculously high. Simply put, I don't feel like I'm reading a manga, much more like a mix between manga and those ancient chinese and japanese art which I have to admit I think is ugly. There's also some other parts that are simply too old styled and only look cheeky now... such as, the eyes = =;; Either young or old there are many supporting characters in Sanctuary that are isnpired by Hojo and Asami dream to change Japan that decide to join them on their jorney and this is where sanctuary really shines. Each character feels so alive and you can feel the emotion in their words and thats mainly thanks to the art since it can capture the feelings and emotions of every character so easliy. Sanctuary tells the story of two men who escaped the killing fields of Cambodia as children into Japan to try build a safe haven for themselves. Except wait, they’re not actual Cambodian children. They’re handsome young Japanese children trapped in Cambodia because their parents were doctors. Don’t want to be like those smelly Cambodians with their funny coloured skin and wonky teeth. Asami, the glasses-wearing handsome young fellow, gets into politics to try build them their ‘Sanctuary’, while Hojo, the spectacle-less but still incredibly handsome young fellow, joins the yakuza to help Asami from behind. But not actually from behind because that would be gay

Birthday Episode: Chapter 11 involves the park celebrating the 36th birthday of Hanako the Tyrannosaurus. Dinosaur Sanctuary ( Japanese: ディノサン, Hepburn: Dinosan) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Itaru Kinoshita, with Shin-ichi Fujiwara serving as research consultant. It began serialization in Shinchosha's Monthly Comic Bunch magazine in March 2021; as of April 2023, four volumes have been released. As for the aesthetics, the art is very etchy and old fashioned. I think some of the art they used to advertise the OAV is actually very pretty, but it does not look very nice in show. You can tell that it was done on the cheap. The next are the characters. As you can see I am not a big fan of them at all. I have read very few manga but till now these set of characters are worst among them, hand down. Every action made me cringe and call them out for their stupidity. Not only were they badly written but the character's low grasp of the situation made things far worse. The two heroes were carbon copy of each other. They were like same wine in different glasses. Both were smart, strong, good looking, righteous, great at sex, charismatic, visionary; you name it they are it. There was no flaw to them. If they felt like it they could have cured cancer and world hunger in few chapters. Their reasoning was beyond the world, the plans they made could only trap idiots, the straight forward attitude they displayed would usually place them at lowest possible place in politics, and moreover their explanation could only make idiots see the light. The only other thing that we know about the characters other than their current selves was that they were refugees from Cambodia. The characters have no depth. They have no reason to act the way they act and no answer to the question "Then What?". What would they do after their mission was done. How would Asami run the country without a plan? What would Hojo do now that even after his plan he is still a don and ultimately a criminal? What are their outs and what do they gain for this? Nothing of this sort is answered here. Thus, characters are nothing more than 1-D, card boards cut outs with a mouth. The side characters were equally dumb. They are swayed away by every other details and plans. Every little thing over whelms them and these are portrayed as the smart guys. They do not have a brain of their own, do whatever the two heroes tell them and become their puppets. If this happened due to the smarts of the heroes, it would have been different. Like how Light and Lelouch do it but this was different. Throughout the story the side characters give their reason for following the two protagonists. They just say that it is interesting to watch Hojo/Asami's progress. Like WHAT? What about their own careers? What about their own motivations? What about their own dreams and fears? As expected the author does not delve there. All they are stupid people who get convinced by hero's plans faster than speed of light. They do not ask questions or oppose the hero. Excellent politician material. 10/10 would vote them. The sound is simplistic, but sets the mood to the OVA. The music has the dark motif to the OVA, which makes Angel Sanctuary more gothic. Could have used more instruments and a more difficult melody, but the music does what it's supposed to: give the viewer the dramatic feeling. The plot details their rise through the ranks of their respective organizations. You follow each of the two main characters, and sometimes a side character, but their plotlines frequently intertwine, since they not only aim for the same thing (the reform of Japan) but organized crime and politics also have frequent connections and common interests within the story. Ridiculously Cute Critter: Benkei, the baby Troodon Suzume is temporarily charged with taking care of. Suzume can't help but be overwhelmed by how cute he is when she first sees him. However, it doesn't last, as Benkei proved quite the troublemaker. Extinct Animal Park: The eponymous Enoshima Dinoland is a small struggling zoo that hosts about two dozen species of dinosaur note technically nineteen non-avian dinosaurs, four pterosaur, and one plesiosaur, ranging from small herbivores to giant carnivores. The series focuses on the day-to-day business of running the place, which is not too different from what real-life zoos deal with when it comes to their animals. Animal Lover: Suzume loves dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, with her main goal being to bridge the gap between them and humans. Another thing: I really liked that the main characters were no supermen, had their (almost undistinguished, but still) flaws and not everything always went as they planned. What I appreciated even more was that the rivals weren't just rotten, evil idiots that had to be completely destroyed for the sake of humanity. What I didn't like though, was that throughout most of the series, Hojo mostly overshadowed Asami. Not good. They were suposed to be equal.

Domesticated Dinosaurs: Dinosaurs are kept as attractions at zoos and animal sanctuaries like Enoshima Dinoland. Some dinosaurs like Sinornithomimus have even been bred for meat. most beautiful pieces of artwork of all time. Kaori Yuki's Angel Sanctuary manga is a stroke of pure genius. Angel Sanctuary the OAV is a twisted, broken, unfortunate piece of nonsense that will turn off anybody who has standards for anime. The real tragedy is that such a horrible piece of animated trash was based on something so beautiful.Although cold and calculating wh...... MORE Two young men vow to transform the destiny of Japan, by any means. As children, they survived the horrors of the Cambodian killing fields together. Now, can they topple the leaders of both the Japanese Parliament and the yakuza crime syndicate? Tokai - Violent yakuza of the Sagara group. Admirer and sometimes pesterer of fellow yakuza Akira Hojo.Likes to have sex with random women in toilets. Mostly non-consensual.

Consequently the ending of Sanctuary is rushed. Rushed but still good. Bittersweet but still good. Still the manga would have profited from three things. First among them is a better development of the plot to make it less erratic. There is also at least one development in the plot that I personally find less than believable. The other two things that could have been improved I will outline below. one of rare series that get me hooked. It is interesting, still get some flaws but it made me unable to stop reading it. Highly recommended if you enjoy complicated and twisted political plot. Foreshadowing: In the first chapter, Kaidou complains how the zoo's old air conditioning units are old and in desperate need of repair. In the second chapter, he and Suzume find the zoo's male Troodon suffering some heat stroke because the exhibit's air conditioning failed. Sanctuary is a manga about two Japanese young men who grew up in tumultuous Cambodia, due to their parents being doctors. When they return to their home country they vow to forge a sanctuary, an ideal nation, in Japan. One of them becomes a yakuza boss and the other a politician. Together they will shake the world. Sound good? It did to me, but I was ultimately disappointed. Artistic License – Paleontology: Mostly averted. The dinosaurs are generally extremely accurate as to scientific thought in the 2020s regarding their appearance and behaviour, right down to the feathers on the ones you'd expect to have them. However, there are some minor things here and there.Unfortunately, from an objective point of view, I couldn't have been more wrong. It was childish idealism at the time. Angel Sanctuary the OAV is impossibly hard to review because it is based on what is in my opinion, one of the greatest and Sanctuary is a dark, political thriller that tells the story of these two friends as they attempt to change Japan from the inside out and create their sanctuary. It's not a modern version of Machiavelli's „The Prince”. It does not present anything in terms of strategy or tactics within the political realm, nor does it flesh out an ideal of what politics should be like.
