We are always happy to explore unique projects which require custom seals. A recent project of ours involved restoring some of the seals on a vintage tram which had become deteriorated. In projects like this one it is always important to maintain the vintage aesthetic of the tram while also offering the functionality of modern seals.

It would be impossible to list every application as you are only limited by your imagination. However, these are the most popular applications our customers use these window seals for; Our range of multi-purpose sealants are fast acting and long-lasting for a flexible and resistant seal. Choose from a number of ready to use sealants including acrylic, clear silicone and all-purpose formulas from brands including UniBond, Evo-Stik, Geocel and Gorilla. Our customers tend to use rubber U channels as window seals in custom or larger scale projects. These seals provide less functionality compared to the claytonrite seals, they make up for this however by providing superior protection and durability. We design many of our U channels to be pressed over the edge of the glass. The tapered design on the inner channel ensures a tight fit which provides a secure connection but it also enables you to install and remove the U channel as you need. A Choice Of High Quality Materials EPDM: Spray silicone lubricant onto a clean cloth, rather than directly onto the rubber seals Wipe down all of the rubber seals with the silicone lubricant spray It’s important to note here that you shouldn’t be tempted to use WD-40 multipurpose lubricant, because that could react with the seal and cause more problems.

You’ll find everything from rubber roofing primer to corner trim and EPDM membrane in this range, to equip you with all the necessary materials to transform your flat roof. Windows are a key feature of many buildings and vehicles. They enable light to come in while also allowing us to see the world outside. However, windows are often a weak point in terms of insulating and as a result a lot of heat is lost through windows. Almost all windows feature rubber seals which serve a very specific purpose. Window seals provide an airtight seal which prevents cold air from entering and warm air from leaving. They are typically relatively soft in construction which enable the seal to compress when under pressure. This ensures that when the window is closed the seals provide the maximum surface area possible which leads to superior insulation. The Different Types Of Window Seals Claytonrite: Of course, you can work your way around the van and clean all of the seals before going on to the next stage of maintenance; but with the windows wide open, be careful that you

The Different Types Of Window Seals

The new fastening technique of elastic bonding complements the existing range of traditional fastening methods. The first use of elastic adhesives to bond components and assemblies in the manufacture of vehicles dates to the early 1980s. The modern rail industry now depends on elastic adhesives for a whole range of fastening applications – including roof assemblies, window glass, side walls, front and rear ends, floor pans and countless smaller assemblies. The bonding of all these components to the structure helps to increase the stiffness and reduce the weight of the vehicle. As a result, the latest generation of trams weights up to a third less than their predecessors, which helps to reduce the life cycle cost. We are able to help design and cut any size or shape from your measurements, a drawing or existing sample. To seal small leaks and patch up areas around your home needing attention, we have a selection of repair wraps, tapes, adhesives and tools to complete the job. If you need to seal or repair surfaces that require heat resistance, our range of fire rated sealants are ideal for treating fireplaces, internal flue pipes and boilers. H226 - Flammable liquid and vapourH334 May cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled.H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.H351 Suspected of causing cancer.H335 May cause respiratory irritation.H336 May cause drowsiness or dizziness.H412 Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. With everything closed again, remove the toilet cassette (this applies to both Dometic and Thetford models), so that you can begin work on it.

We are able to manufacture using TPE for both the claytonrite and U channel seals. This is due in part to the excellent versatility the material offers. TPE also offers excellent resistance to weathering which makes it perfect for use in sealing applications. TPE is also non marking which enables it to preserve the appearance of any object you use it on. A key advantage that TPE gives you over the other two compounds listed above is the design choices it gives you. We are able to manufacture TPE in a range of colours to suit and purpose. Ideal For A Range Of ApplicationsWe often use silicone to manufacture our range of U channels as these seals are typically used in larger scale applications. One key feature that silicone has over EPDM and TPE is it's excellent temperature range. Silicone is able to withstand temperatures as low as -55°C and as high as +300°C, all while maintaining it's useful properties. What we mean by this is certain materials are able to function in low temperatures but are prone to becoming rigid which makes them prone to deterioration. Rubber TPE: Lubricate the rubber seals by spraying silicone lubricant onto a cloth and wiping it around the seal. I recommend spraying this onto the cloth, as opposed to directly onto the seal, because the stuff tends to go everywhere if you’re not careful. It must be a silicone lubricant, such as (confusingly) WD-40 Specialist High-Performance Silicone Lubricant, or Thetford Seal Lubricant. For hard to reach areas inside or outdoors, expanding foam is a flexible solution for sealing gaps around pipes and wires, while tough and long-lasting exterior sealants can be used on exterior pipework, roofing, guttering, glazing and frames.

Then, using only clean water and a cloth, clean the rubbers, wiping all the way around the window aperture. Also included in our range is rubber roof paint, or rubber roof liquid, which provides exceptional waterproofing and protection against weathering, UV rays, and temperature fluctuations, extending the lifespan of roofs. Its easy application and seamless coverage create a durable barrier that prevents leaks and reduces the need for frequent repairs. Rubber roof paint is also environmentally friendly, reducing the demand for traditional roofing materials. We have a wealth of experience in the supply of thousands of different gasket materials. Regular materials include: Whatever you do, don’t force it open, because you’re more than likely going to tear the seal, which would then need replacing to prevent leaks, and that isn’t a two-minute job.For the past eight years, we’ve had a Dometic toilet fitted in our caravans, and we’ve had no issue with them. They might perhaps require a little more maintenance than the Thetford models. However, much of what I’m about to outline below will be relevant to both brands.
