The First Love, The Work Mistake, The Friend with Benefits, The Overlap, The Missed Chance, The Bastard and The Serious One. SEVEN EXES was such a joy to read. I adore everything Lucy writes but I think this is her best one yet. -- Holly Bourne A verbatim example: “But wheeeeeeeeeeeen are they going to seeeeeeeeee me? It huuuuuuuuurts, Essssssstheeeeerrrrr!” Much like Idris did for Esther, it’s likely this serious ex will still give you the warm and fuzzies. Funny, hopeful and agonisingly relatable, Esther is all of us. Lucy Vince writes with such compelling honesty, Seven Exes made me laugh, made me cry and made me want to call all my friends to tell them I loved them then call my exes to apologize/punch them in the nuts. Equal parts romcom and life lesson, it's a must-read.' Lindsey Kelk

Seven Exes made me laugh out loud. It's fresh, fast-paced and joyous. Lucy Vine's writing is so warm and funny - her books are the literary equivalent of an amazing girls' night out.' Beth O'LearyWhen an affluent university professor is found brutally murdered in his sweeping mansion, which remains half-ruined following a fire decades before, there's only one suspect; the man who has been caught on the home's CCTV system. So when Katie gets a call from a detective about her estranged younger brother, she knows she has to make up for abandoning him all those years ago. However, even she can't possibly comprehend just how much danger he is in.

My one negative opinion about this book is that I thought that Esther was very immature for 30 and was too obsessed with having a perfect life with a perfect man. I am willing to say that my attitude of Esther is probably the fact that I'm well beyond 30 and don't remember how I was approaching life at that age. I did enjoy seeing her growth throughout the book and was rooting for her to find her happily ever after. I really enjoyed the importance of female friendship highlighted in this book. No matter what Esther was going through or how stupid she was acting (or how drunk she was), her two friends were always there to help her out. One of the freshest, funniest rom-coms I've ever read... with so much heart and depth. -- Daisy Buchanan

You’ll recognise this ex from the horrible combination of cringe you feel at the mention of their name, and the fact that you turn into a gibbering, awkward teenager again every time you spot them in town during that Christmas visit home. I enjoyed the book, but I found the jumping from chapter to chapter to be distracting and a bit overwhelming. There were too many plots and subplots to manage effectively. The author had a great idea, but it may have been a bit too big to carry it off successfully.

Clever, perceptive and screamingly funny, Seven Exes is a joyous commentary on the mores and mysteries of modern dating and how past loves can shape our future. Throw in some delicious nostalgia, some genuinely sexy love interests and Vine's mastery of female friendships in all their frank and messy glory, and it's a book you'll never, ever want to break up with. -- Lauren Bravo The characters were so unlikable, and I suffered from so much second hand embarrassment and cringe dialogue. She hates her job, her friends are coupling up and settling down, and her flatmates are just plain weird. He could’ve told me to put hemorrhoid cream on his penis, while offering me anal, and I would’ve said yes because oh god, he’s so hot!” A delightful rom-com about a woman who decides to revisit each of her seven exes, convinced that one of them is “the one who got away.”A sweary, panic-sweaty but ultimately rather endearing take on facing your demons — and realising that women’s magazine features should rarely be believed. Definitely don’t try this at home’ The Sunday Times Clever, perceptive and screamingly funny, Seven Exes is a joyous commentary on the mores and mysteries of modern dating and how past loves can shape our future. Throw in some delicious nostalgia, some genuinely sexy love interests and Vine's mastery of female friendships in all their frank and messy glory, and it's a book you'll never, ever want to break up with. ' Lauren Bravo Take a Look at Our Summary of November Highlights, Whether You're Looking for the Latest Releases or Gift Inspiration Bursting with sparky humour. Esther and her female friends are a joy and Esther's search for the boy from her past who may or may not have got away is both funny & moving. -- Jill Mansell

Riotously funny, charming, and nostalgic, Seven Exes is a truly optimistic look at turning 30 and all the mess that can come with. Superb! -- Laura Jane Williams Vine’s books with Orion include Hot Mess, What Fresh Hell, Are We Nearly There Yet? and Bad Choices. Her books have been translated into 11 languages, with Hot Mess optioned for a TV series in America. She has been nominated twice for the Comedy Women In Print Award and is also host of the podcast and live event series "The Hot Mess Clubhouse", celebrating funny women. Her journalism has appeared in Grazia, Stylist, Heat, Fabulous, New, Now, Marie Claire, Glamour Online, Cosmopolitan, the Daily Telegraph, Sun and Mirror. I love the title of Seven Exes, and I also like when books do exactly what they say on the tin. The reader goes in and out of the present-day narrative and the histories of her past with the seven different boyfriends. Of course, the reader makes predictions about which men from her past are going to be complete non-starters and which might be the goers, with a few twists and red herrings along the way. Even though I don’t personally relate to these seven categories of exes, I can imagine readers enjoying talking with their friends about which roles their own exes might fit into. (Perhaps some will have more than one who fits into ‘The Bastard’!) With more questions than answers, this gripping thriller has you asking, why would someone as wealthy as the professor not repair his home after a fire ravaged half of it? Did he seem to know that his death was imminent, yet do nothing to stop it? And most importantly, why was he obsessed with a legendary local serial killer? We can't wait to find out the answers to all that and more. I absolutely loved Esther, who was such a relatable character and I loved watching her grow in confidence and learn to accept all the great things in her life (even if they don’t fit the dream version of her life she visualised as a teen.)Esther is 29, almost 30, with no real love life to speak of. On a drunken night at her go-to dingy pub with her two roommates, she finds an old magazine with an article titled “The Seven Relationships Every Woman Has in Her Quest To Find the One” (first love, work mistake, overlap, friend with benefits, missed chance, bastard, the serious one). Hopeless crushes, emergency tampons, messy sex stories, work triumphs, those days where you can't stop crying in the loos, those days where you can't stop dancing on the bar. They even share the same birthday, FFS. The struggle is real, but they'll always have each other. Overall, a heartfelt and humourous read that’s perfect for fans of Rom-coms with Bridget-Jones level catastrophes, drunken shenanigans and endearing characters you can’t help but root for. You spend every working hour with them and you handle the office drama and the work triumphs side by side. Esther Adams is twenty-nine years old and is feeling the pressure to find “The One.” While bemoaning her fate with her best friends Bibi and Louise, Esther discovers a magazine article that identifies “The Seven Relationships Every Woman Has in Her Quest to Find the One.” Esther realizes that she has had all seven relationships and decides that one of them was probably “The One,” but she let him go. What ensues is Esther’s search for the seven exes and her attempt to find the right guy from among them.
