About this deal

The whisky, bottled at 40% abv, promises a ‘slightly sweeter’ take on the classic Speyside style used by the Singleton of Dufftown 12 Year Old. It’s difficult to get a good feel for the look of this Scotch from the bottle, but as soon as it hits the glass you notice light caramel tones. This is a fairly viscous whisky which clings visibly to the glass as it moves and is something notable in the mouth feel as there is a distinct velvetiness to the finish. For us whisky-loving folk, there are few things we adore more than a big product launch to get all excited about. Diageo Reserve observed this fact, and so threw a big event to launch its latest labour of love: The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master’s Selection! Next up was The Singleton & Soda, a Whisky Highball made with 50ml of The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master’s Selection and 120ml soda water, garnished with half an orange wheel and served in a highball filled with cubed ice. The beauty in the simplicity of a Highball was highlighted here in an extremely refreshing serve. Perfectly balanced speyside single malt whisky. The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master's Selection has the trademark Singleton sweet fruity smoothness, with fresh hints of honey and vanilla

The design is intended to be eye-catching and informative, which extends to the ‘single malt whisky’ embossed on the bottle’s front, as well as the batch number listing, Wilson’s signature, and tasting notes. Another new edition to the Singleton of Dufftown’s portfolio, after the recent Sunray, Tailfire and Spey Cascade no-age statement flavour-led expressions. Nose: A balance of cereal malted barley and peach fruit, followed by some stewed or poached apples and pairs, quite sweet with honey and golden syrup, a little citrus zest, orange and lime, barley sugars, fresh cinnamon pastries, vanilla, icing sugar. The Forgotten Drop series is a selection of limited release single maltsfrom The Singleton’s distillery family, which also includes Dufftown in Speyside and Glen Ord in the Highlands. At The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master’s Selection launch, it was clear there’s an ambition for the bottling to be a part of new conversations around Scotch. “We spend our entire life telling people how not to drink Scotch,” Trykowski reasoned. “But we’re trying to talk about it in a modern, new way.”

The rebrand of the 12, 15 and 18 Year Old will also create a strong standout for the collection on-shelf,’ said Temperley. There is an earthy, nuttiness to the nose which is noticeably instantly and this is coupled beautifully with hints of pear. These scents pair nicely with a good dose of vanilla and the homeliness of roasted wheat. The caramel tone of this Dufftown blend is something that carries to the tasting. The classic combination of toffee and apples is notable and gives way to a savory, peppery finish. All round this is a drink that makes you think of the winter months and if there was ever a fireside warmer this would be a very good candidate. With The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master’s Selection, the possibilities are endless… What’s your serve of The Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master’s Selection? Aimed as an introduction to The Singleton of Dufftown’s stable range (12, 15, 18yo) and slightly sweeter. My tasting notes: Glen Ord master of malts Maureen Robinson, who has spent 40 years working for distillery owner Diageo, said: ‘With The Singleton Forgotten Drop Series we set out to find more than just very old whiskies; we wanted to find exceptional whiskies with unique cask maturation.
