A feature that might let some people down is the relatively small water resistance rating. It’s rated at 30m also know as 3 ATM. This gives you basic resistance to water, but not much more. In my opinion though, this is ok as it’s not designed for much more than day to day wear. It doesn’t take much sunlight to charge it, either. Just a few minutes standing in direct sunlight and the lume will be fully charged and ready to go. Seriously, looks amazing. In my experience Swiss watches are like German cars expensive to buy, expensive to maintain and no where near as reliable as Japanese cars, especially Toyotas and Suzukis. The dial on the ref. SNKE01K1 has a similar layout, but is surrounded by a stainless steel bezel with five-minute gradations. This model also uses the caliber 7S26 and costs roughly 145 USD. Still, the movement does its job well and will likely never let you down, which is a great thing for an everyday timepiece.

If you are looking for a simple, clean, yet beautiful automatic everyday timepiece, the Seiko 5 SNXS77 may be the watch you are looking for. The Seiko 5 "Military" are among the most sought-after sports watches from the Japanese watch manufacturer. The design of these automatic watches resemble field and pilot's watches. This is especially helpful if you already own watches and watch straps with an 18mm width, so you can swap between them.It keeps decent time, it can take a beating for years and years without needing a service and is extremely affordable. One of the great things about the Seiko 5 line is that many of the watches come in well under 40 millimeters. This SNXF05 measures just 37 millimeters across, but it’s given a boost in presence via the tonneau case. What’s really special about this watch is the dial, or to be more specific, the gridded pattern on the dial, which is something you just don’t really see today. Ditch the chintzy bracelet, slip on a neutral-colored leather two-piece strap, and you’re good to go. The Seiko 5 SNXS73K has a matte silver dial with rectangular applied markers with polished metal frames around them and applied Lumibrite on them. The dial gives it a wonderful look as it reflects the light beautifully. It has a minute and hour hand made in polished metal with bevels which allows them to reflect the light beautifully as well. The hands, similar to the hour markers, have rectangular shapes, and also applied Lumibrite on them. The Seiko SNXS79 has rather unusual dimensions that, on paper, don’t really reflect how the watch wears. Let me explain. Dimensions

The good news is, there is clearly no shortage of Seiko 5s to choose from, and even if the SNXS79 doesn’t do it for you, there are plenty of other expensive-looking Seiko 5s to choose from. Why I Bought the SNXS79 Thrice (Yes, Three Times) This is no big deal considering the low price of the Seiko SNXS and the dressy nature of the timepiece. Lume It has a domed crystal and a case that’s scratched up, and has so much character, in my opinion. What is a Seiko 5? The mechanical watches in the Seiko 5 collection have been enchanting watch lovers around the world since the early 1960s. It is one of the best-selling automatic watch lines worldwide and has always been aimed at sporty watch enthusiasts who are young at heart. As is common with affordable watches, the bracelet is the part of the watch that feels like it has been compromised with the most. It has some rattle and doesn’t give a 100% impression of quality. The watch has a water resistance of 30M/3ATM. This is a downside of this movement as it is certainly not a lot. It can handle water splashes but should not be submerged. At the same time, it is important to consider that this watch is made as an everyday timepiece, and therefore, good water resistance is not crucial.

It helps that it’s so light and weightless, making it good to wear in warmer summer months. It also surprisingly doesn’t tug on my arm hairs like some other cheap bracelets tend to. SNXS79 Strap Choices and Suggestions The watch measures 38mm in diameter with a thicness of 12mm, not a bad size at all really. Some might say it’s a little smaller than the current average, but we’re only talking about 2mm or so, nothing to worry about really. One more thing to touch upon is the automatic movement, now I love watches with this style of movement. They automatically wind themselves using the kinetic movement of your wrist which is an interesting feature. What I didn’t realize at the time was that a smaller watch is actually classier and more versatile, as it’s more subtle and discreet. So today I’m doing a Seiko SNXS77 review. This is another watch that’s part of Seiko’s popular Seiko 5 series. They intended on bringing an affordable, well built, automatic watch to the market, and they definetly succeeded. The SNXS77J2, SNXS77K2 and SNXS77P2 models, if they exist, would have a different band style or material. All in all the Seiko SNXS77 offers exceptional value for money in my view, it’s a classic design watch so not much in the way of any fancy bells or whistles going on with the dial etc.
