If they do not dissolve, pieces of the pessary may crumble and fall out of the vagina. You may notice this if you have vaginal dryness. If you’re using the external cream and you forget to put it on, use it as soon as possible and continue putting it on 2 to 3 times a day as usual. Always read the label. Shaaatz pessaries are stiff and need to be inserted vertically. They are then twisted into a horizontal position in the vagina. Advise patients that tampons, intravaginal douches, spermicides or other vaginal products are not to be used while using clotrimazole pessaries and/or vaginal creams. Side Effects Treatment during the menstrual period should not be performed due to the risk of the soft gel pessary being washed out by the menstrual flow. The treatment should be finished before the onset of menstruation.Latex contraceptives such as condoms and diaphragms may be damaged by clotrimazole pessaries, vaginal cream, and external cream and consequently their efficacy may be reduced. Alternative precautions should therefore be adopted during use and for at least 5 days after using this product. As a matter of practicality, pessary and vaginal cream treatment should not be undertaken during menstruation as menstrual flow may wash out these products.
