Print a test image:Before printing a large batch of prints, print a test image to ensure that your settings are optimized for the best results. Color Management and Calibration Choose a high print resolution for detailed and sharp images. For most sublimation printers, a resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) or higher is recommended. Remember to also consider the type of ink, as some inks require more heat than others to properly sublimate into the material. Finally, always use enough pressure when pressing your materials so that the colours adhere correctly.
When I press a design on a sublimation blank, it looks weird and maybe a little like it melted. How do I fix this? Consider Substrate Requirements:Different materials need specific paper types, like high-release for fabrics and heat-resistant for ceramics.Follow the manufacturer’s instructions: Different printers and monitors may require different calibration settings, so follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. The glossy paper produces a shinier, more reflective print, while matte paper produces a more subdued, non-reflective image. Choose the finish that best suits your project needs. Select the appropriate sublimation paper type based on the material you’re transferring the image to. Some papers work better with fabrics, while others are designed for hard surfaces. You must use special sublimation ink to do a sublimation shirt. I use Hiipoo Ink in my Epson EcoTank printer. What else can I put my sublimation prints on? T-shirts and fabric items: Temperature between 375-400°F (190-204°C) and pressure of around 40-60 psi.I am going to use a PC for the information below. I am assuming that the settings are similar on Mac, but I don’t have one to show you. Also, I can’t answer any questions about how you do this on a Mac. Hopefully, this will give you the information you need to do manual color correction, and experiment with your colors. Why do you need color correction? Adjust your image for the correct print size: Before printing, adjust your idea to the right size to avoid cropping or stretching the picture. Print Speed:The print speed of a printer is essential if you need to produce a large volume of prints in a short amount of time. However, speed should not be prioritized over print quality. Look for a printer that balances both speed and quality. Metals may require a longer dwell time and higher temperature settings to ensure complete ink transfer. A: The recommended temperature and pressure settings for sublimation printing depend on the type of substrate you are using. Generally, the temperature should be between 380-400°F, and the pressure should be between 30-40 psi.
Use a colour calibration tool: A colour calibration tool can help you adjust your monitor and printer settings to achieve accurate colours.Longevity:Consider the lifespan of the ink and how well it will hold up over time. For example, if you’re printing for outdoor use, you’ll want ink resistant to fading and environmental factors. The pressure for sublimation printing should be medium to high. This helps to ensure that the transfer paper is properly pressed against the substrate, which is essential for a high-quality transfer. Install the correct ICC profiles for your sublimation printer and ink combination. ICC profiles ensure accurate color reproduction and prevent color mismatch issues. Now you have a way to manually correct your colors and hopefully dial those in a little bit to what you prefer for sublimation. It will take some trial and error – I’m not going to lie. This is not a perfect process. I can’t tell you precisely what to set your printer at. Feel free to just move those sliders a little bit and test to see what happens.
