Tetley's Brewery (Joshua Tetley & Son Ltd) was an English regional brewery founded in 1822 by Joshua Tetley in Hunslet, now a suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire. The beer was originally produced at the Leeds Brewery, which was later renamed the Leeds Tetley Brewery to avoid confusion with a microbrewery of the same name. Tetley Beer is a legendary English brewery that has been in operation for more than 200 years. Their beer has been made with English hops and malts, as well as their own Tetley’s yeast, to create beers that are both unique and flavorful over time. Tetley Beer has remained popular despite the brewery’s closure in 2011. It’s no surprise that Tetley Beer is still a popular drink today, given the company’s history of producing high-quality beer. Despite the fact that the brewery has closed, their legacy lives on by producing some of the best beers in the country. Tetley Beer, an English classic, has endured over the centuries. Imperial – Originally created for the Teesside market, and at one point was advertised as "Teesside's favourite pint". It was launched nationally as a premium 4.3% cask ale in 2002. It used three separate yeasts and had eight months of development, but the variant has since been withdrawn. A familiar sight around the city, even for non-drinkers, was Tetley's beer delivered by dray horse. Soon after, the American War of Independence broke out. As a result the prices of barley and wheat increased which then led to chains of bankruptcies. The highest selling Tetley product is Smoothflow, a nitrogenated 3.6% ABV ale served at 8°C (46°F). It is available in kegs and cans with a widget. It is sold overseas as Tetley's English Ale. [24] The same beer, but not nitrogenated and without the widget in the can, is sold as Tetley's Original. William continued the family business as agents to the Imperial Fire Insurance Office of London. In the following year, the company was formed.

While living in Leeds, the couple had five children. They had four daughters and their long awaited son Charles Francis William more commonly known as Francis.Tetley's advertising suffered during the 1980s when its television advertisements focussed too heavily on a folksy, old fashioned idea of Yorkshire life. [32] From 1999 – 2006 Tetley used "Smoothly Does It" as its slogan. [33] In 2006 the slogan became 'Don't Do Things By Halves'. [34] Following a break for a number of years from television advertising, Tetley returned to the screens in October 2010 as a sponsor of evening programming on ITV4. [35] In 2012, Tetley's was the eleventh highest selling beer brand in the United Kingdom. [4] It is the second highest selling ale brand in the world after John Smith's, with volumes of 700,000 hectolitres. [4] Its main products are Tetley's Cask and Tetley's Smoothflow. The new business, William Tetley & Sons, were trading all over the country. The products they sold were malt, wines, and spirits. Tetley is a popular brand of both beer and tea. The beer is a classic English pale ale, brewed with malt and hops for a full-bodied flavour. The tea range offers a variety of flavours, from classic English Breakfast to exotic Green Tea with Mango and Passion Fruit. Tetley is a trusted brand that has been enjoyed by generations of customers, and is a great choice for those looking for a tasty and reliable beverage. Tetley’s Lager Joshua died in 1859, leaving the business to his son Francis William, who took on a partner, Charles Ryder.
