About this deal

Pat-man: Robert Pattinson will play Bruce Wayne in a new movie, helmed by ‘Cloverfield’ director Matt Reeves. After months of conversations, Matt Reeves seems to have confirmed that Colin Farrell will join the project after tweeting “Wait – is that you, #Oz?” alongside a GIF of the actor in In Bruges. Overall the third and final acts are great though, once the story gets rolling and personal stakes come into light it's easy to feel invested. Also of course, the noir atmosphere and cinematography is all very in line with what I imagine Batman films should look like. Pattinson also added that he was attracted by the idea of a “legacy part”, explaining the attachment to such a character.”There’s so few things in life where people passionately care about it before it’s even happened,” he began. Talking further about the new film in an interview with SiriusXM (via The Hollywood Reporter), Wright called the film the “next evolution” of Gotham.

Like with any film, we’re working together to create a mood, to create an idea, a setting, a tone,” Wright said. “This is the next evolution since 1939 when these stories began.” Co-writer Mattson Tomlin said in August 2020 that the film will dig deep into Batman’s trauma. He discussed Reeves as a filmmaker during an interview with Den Of Geek, saying that Reeves is “always coming from a point of emotion” rather than focusing purely on action. Colin Farrell, who will play The Penguin in the film, has spoken about the script, calling it “gorgeous” while giving little away as to specifics. The actor said that she took care to ensure that her version of Catwoman was seen as a “real person.” Riddler: Paul Dano is set to play Edward Nygma, as Jim Carrey did in 1995’s ‘Batman Forever’. Credit: Getty Matt Reeves’s dynamic action film, The Batman, made its anticipated debut on the big screen on March 4th, 2022. Just as Star Wars and Marvel have expanded their universes via Disney Plus TV shows, DC is bringing The Batman's universe to the small screen via HBO Max. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that the film wrapped production in mid-March 2021, a year out from its release date.

Three months, Gunn revealed the first phase of their new-look DCU, which is titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. He also confirmed The Flash will "reset the entire DC universe", thus giving Gunn and Safran a clean slate to work from. Landing just after Christmas Day 2021, a new trailer for The Batman – titled The Bat and the Cat – gave us some fresh footage to pour over. The cast and crew have shared what they'd like in a proper film sequel, though. Pattinson himself wants to see a take on the Court of Owls saga while director Matt Reeves hopes to bring Mr. Freeze to his dark and gritty Batman universe. He also has a connection to DC Comics adaptations. He portrayed the villainous Hector Hammond in 2011’s Green Lantern. Here's the movie's official synopsis, by way of Warner Bros' UK 2022 preview listing: "Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies – Alfred Pennyworth, Lt. James Gordon – amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. Wright also called the film’s Batmobile the “most badass muscle car you could imagine. It’s grounded in Gotham. It’s grounded in Americana.” Oh, we also have a title as well. It’s called The Batman: Part 2. Feel free to keep calling it The Batman 2, though.

Sasha Calle has been cast as Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian who arrives on Earth instead of Kal-El (i.e. Superman) in this alternate timeline. Judging by the trailers, she was captured and imprisoned (seemingly by the Russian military) after her arrival. However, it's clear she'll be broken out by the two Barrys with the aid of a certain Dark Knight (more on him in a bit). The announcement was part of the reveal of Warner Bros. Discovery's broader plan for the new DC Universe and its various side projects, more than one of which features Batman. In addition to announcing the release date, DCU architects James Gunn and Peter Safran also confirmed that The Batman will be a trilogy.

What will The Batman 2 be about?

Recalling being grilled about the reports at a film premiere, the actor added: “Everyone was like: ‘Is that true, is that true?’ And it wasn’t true at the time, I hadn’t got the job. It was pretty terrifying.”

This film is immensely important," added star Ezra Miller. "If you look around the DC Universe, obviously you have all of these characters that exist within their own bubbles. We even have now multiple iterations of the same story. This movie, by opening that door thatFlashpointdid in the comics, all of these stories and characters can start to collide."Light the Bat-signal, there’s a new police chief in town. Rumoured for most of the summer, Westworld favourite Jeffrey Wright has signed up to play Commissioner James W. Gordon in Reeves new movie. We know Colin Farrell will reprise his role as the Penguin in an upcoming series for the streamer, which is set delve into Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham. Pat-man is actually happening, folks. The former Twilight icon turned indie star was announced earlier this year, but he’s not completely sure how it happened at all. “It’s kind of insane,” Pattinson told Esquire this month.“I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I’ve got it, at all.” The film has released a full scene online depicting a funeral suddenly crashed by a car in a plot by the Riddler.
