No doubt many of you will know her name or have seen her movies. She made too many to mention. If you’re anything like me, one or two of them are very dear to your heart. Gloriously atmospheric and utterly riveting, this is my favourite Alex Michaelides yet…. the undisputed master of the twist.' Lucy Foley Harry Bosch and the Lincoln Lawyer team up to exonerate a woman who’s already served five years for killing her ex-husband. The Fury, like its beguiling narrator, is endlessly evolving, wildly entertaining, and like the very best fiction, impossible to pin down. Just when you think you have it cornered, it moves, impossibly and with stunning flourish, toward a devastating finale. The Talented Mr. Ripley for our time" A very impressive debut…an original take on the psychoanalyst tale. I’m excited to see what Alex does next. This guy has a voice. That’s very rare. He’s a real talent.’ Steve Cavanagh, author of Thirteen

What begins as a complex melodrama gradually metamorphoses, evolving into various genres: from romance to psychological mystery, and ultimately culminating in a crescendo of a heart-stopping thriller blended with a poignant tragedy. My apologies if this review appears somewhat enigmatic, for "Fury" is a narrative that defies easy summation. To truly appreciate it, one must embark on this journey without preconceived notions, surrendering oneself to Michaelides' evocative, mind-bending, and cryptic narrative style. She told me, though—one wintry night in London, as we drank whiskey by the fire, watching snowflakes drift past the window. She told me the whole story, and I told her about the— This is a really difficult book to review, because I am not sure how I actually feel about it after reading it. In the same vein of Benajamin Stevenson (Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone) with the glitz and glamour of Chris Bohjalian's The Lioness, Alex Michaelides' 2024 psychological thriller, THE FURY, will keep readers engaged from the very first chapter. A masterfully paced thriller about a reclusive ex-movie star and her famous friends, whose spontaneous trip to a private Greek island is upended by a murder—from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent PatientWhen an advance copy of Alex Michaelides' newest book, The Fury, arrived on my doorstep, I did a little happy dance. He is one of the most talented thriller writers out there right now as he always manages to bring something different to the table. The Fury has that fun, binge read quality to it which makes it ideal as a weekend or vacation read. It practically begs you to keep reading as you wonder what kind of journey will the author take you on. Infused with Victorian-era British poetry and Greek mythology, Maidens turns the highbrow into the highly readable ” Entertainment Weekly I tell you this because you may think you know this story. You probably read about it at the time―it caused a real stir in the tabloids, if you remember. It had all the necessary ingredients for a press sensation: a celebrity; a private island cut off by the wind…and a murder.

Oh, and if it's important to you, the chapters are short. This makes the story seem a bit more fast-paced than it actually is, in my opinion. An excellent, slow-burning psychological thriller; sharp, clever and with a whammy that genuinely took me by surprise (it takes a lot to do this). Kudos to the author. More, please.’ Joanne Harris, author of Chocolat The narrative centers around Lara Farrar, a beloved Hollywood luminary who has recently bid adieu to her illustrious career at the age of forty. She extends an invitation to her closest confidantes, Kate and Elliot, to join her on a secluded Greek Island—a cherished gift from her first husband. Alongside Lara are her devoted husband, Jason, who shares an uncanny connection with Kate, and Lara's son, Leo, from her previous marriage. Leo harbors dreams of becoming an actor, much to his mother's chagrin. The ensemble is rounded out by Agathi, the steadfast babysitter, assistant, and cook, and Nicola, the caretaker whose lingering glances at Lara do not go unnoticed. Combining Greek mythology with propulsive suspense, this gripping, twisty tale is the perfect way to start off your summer reading with a bang" Book Riot Lana was a Californian, born and bred. She lived there, worked there, made the majority of her movies there. However, once Otto died and she had retired, Lana decided to leave Los Angeles for a fresh start. We found ourselves trapped there overnight. Our old friendships concealed hatred and a desire for revenge. What followed was a game of cat and mouse ― a battle of wits, full of twists and turns, building to an unforgettable climax. The night ended in violence and death, as one of us was found murdered. Fun fact: When I had my first heart surgery, I was reading The Silent Patient, and I didn’t know if it would be the last book that I ever read. At least it was good!
