About this deal

From an internal perspective, consistency and clarity help create a psychologically safe environment in which colleagues can be open, contribute fully, and flourish. The consistent performance of daily actions contributes to this – the more people do something, the easier it becomes, productivity increases, and job satisfaction grows. There is also a clear link between consistency and accountability. Individuals are more likely to take responsibility for delivery if they are practiced in performing the work and task at hand. Excellence is high quality and a virtue to be pursued. The pursuit of perfection is frustrating, neurotic and a terrible waste of time. Procrastination

So let’s get started on this exploratory journey and identify what it really means to live a life of excellence.A personal favourite for me, as a history buff, is the opening chapter which talks through the history of Army leadership. It was particularly interesting reading officers initially didn’t like the idea of a Staff Academy as they believed all the training one officer would need can be learned through the Regiment!

Lieutenant Colonel Langley Sharp's elaboration of the British Army's approach to leadership is comprehensive and clearly written, and provides valuable lessons for soldiers and civilians alike. As organisations grapple with the enormous changes underway - whether due to rapid technological advances or the changes in working practices brought about by the pandemic - understanding the basics of leadership will be essential if leaders and their organisations are to survive and thrive in our fast-paced environment No two readings of this book will be the same. But it’s hard to see how any leader, whatever their field, wouldn’t benefit from reading and rereading it.

She takes her work seriously, always concentrating on presenting both sides of a story. She has earned many awards and the respect of her peers for her commitment to excellence in her field. She is quite famous and greatly admired. She is also one of the most unpretentious people I know.
