Description

Always bleak, explicitly graphic and extreme in content, this story can be considered a masterpiece in this genre and can be enjoyed by all fans and followers of this particular brand of horror story. Pure genius! Vera, Daniel and Harold live in filthy, disgusting, rat infested, grime-filled conditions but, whilst Vera is doing her best to keep the family afloat Daniel, her disabled and troubled husband, is struggling to the point of going under. Then, there is 7 year old Harold - 'Son of Slob', the podgy, overgrown freaky kid that provides the ultimate challenge for his downtrodden, despairing parents. Far from being a normal young boy, Harold has very special needs and exhibits such alarming, disturbing behaviour that professional help is now most urgently required before matters degenerate to even lower levels of depravity and to such an uncontrollable and unmanageable situation, which bottoms out to truly horrific and horrendous proportions, that matters cannot be rectified. The story does start off strong then half way though it just becomes "how can I make this as pointlessly disgusting as possible with out actually adding to the plot/story". There is like a 10 minuet description of "The Slob" in the seen that take about 5 seconds in real time.

Extreme horror authors - Listen Up! The bar has been set. For any of you who feels the violence and depravity is the most important part of the story, you need to read this book to learn about character development - because when the reader cares for the protagonist, they can FEEL the bad things happening. The long awaited and highly anticipated sequel to The Slob, follows Vera and how well, or not, she is dealing with the aftermath of her terrifying encounter with The Slob, and her relationship with her son Harold, who was born out of the horror she endured in the first book.At the end she is more worried about "pleasing her man" than the fact that she has been brutalized over and over. I know that this is a story and gore for the sake of gore but it was just so god damm unrealistic that at many point I almost gave up because it was just to stupid.

It really succeeded in being horrifying nightmarefule but still being hard not to continue. But I think I'll wait a bit before reading book 2 A highly original, thrilling piece of splatterpunk theatre with it's cleverly constructed, fast flowing narrative that just oozed in brilliance whilst also containing a fine array of wonderfully nefarious supporting cast of creepy characters that just leaves you wanting more and more and more.Beauregard has tapped into the psychology of his main characters and he writes it well, because he makes it believable. Right from the start of this story, something popped out at me – this is probably much closer to the truth than the Hollywood fluff would like you to believe. This book reminded me of the Wrong Turn movie series because of the “meat grinder” thingy. Barbaric and filthy disgusting. The Slob by Aron Beauregard brings forth an unpleasant reality of intimate violation and torment. The reader should be aware physical violence and horrendous acts of defilement is a common thread throughout this splatterpunk novella. I had to think about this for a couple of days before I wrote anything. Aron, I would appreciate this review not being posted to Facebook.

How do the experts advise keeping that slob cut looking, well, not-slobby? "I would recommend using straightening irons with a heat-activated hair protection to flatten the hair or a tong to give a little texture," says Cannan. Or, kill two birds with one stone by investing in the best hair straighteners with a curved barrel, which can smooth the hair and add texture just as easily. Our beauty editor's ghd Platinum+ review has all the details on our favorite two-in-one straightening and waving tool. The narrative, as always, flowed brilliantly and descriptively and kept me hooked from word one! If I didn't have to sleep, I would've read it in one sitting, but alas, it took me two! (No housework got done, which is pretty apt for this story! 😉) Can I give this piece of fiction a fair go? Can I get past the fact that a sequel is never as good as the original? Can I judge it on merit as a stand-alone book? Can I remember to get hemorrhoid cream and toilet paper tomorrow?

I had the absolute honour and pleasure of an ARC of Son Of The Slob, and what an awesome treat it was! Thank you so much Aron. 😁 This is gross. Vile. Upsetting. Graphic. Depressing. Nauseating. Tragic. Insert 57 other disturbing adjectives here.

I felt itchy just by reading this book. I could smell the putrid whiff of filth and odor, it made me scratch my skin and unconsciously reach for a sanitizer just to lessen my discomfort. Totally gross. Don't usually Reread a book so close from reading it the first time. Read it in January this year but I just got book two. THE SLOB opens with a kidnapped woman suffering trauma so we know, upfront, what we’re getting into. I, as well as a lot of you in here, I'm sure, don't really wince at horror anymore. There's nothing that makes me truly disturbed in horror beyond my distaste of foot and finger injuries, and when the animal in a horror meets their demise, but Beauregard managed to keep me wincing throughout the second half of this book. Specifically, the part wherein the protagonist refuses to eat, so The Slob ties her up to a bed, rapes her with the meat, forces her to eat it, kills her unborn child, and makes her eat that for dessert. I, wholeheartedly, don't think I could ever forget this scene as the detail it was described with made me feel as though I was a third party to the room it was happening in. Outside of that, the last, oh, say 20%-10% of this book was really disappointing as I felt it was extremely rushed in explaining things I felt the reader didn't really care about, all in the name of "no loose ends".Harold is mentally retarded and mostly unable to understand or communicate with most other people. This makes him so vulnerable to so many bad things. Even though Vera loves him and wants to see the good in him, how far will this apple fall from the tree? Or, will it be the sins of the father type of story? The answer, I am sad to say, is NO! If I don’t make a shopping list, I never remember shit or, in this case, things related to shit. Also, it will not be possible to separate it from the original story, so I am not allowed to tell you “It is not as good as…” – nothing is and I doubt ever will be, because I didn’t expect such a powerful story, which was part of the magic. Personally, I was more interested in the commentary of war and the mental health critique. They actual marry beautifully (if anything can be called beautiful in that novel.) The psychiatrist was infuriating to say the least, his inability to actually see what Vera needs versus what he WANTS her to accomplish. More needs to be written like this. Not only Vera needing help, but Daniel as well and the inaction that leads to dire consequences. War, I’m excited about the possibly continuation of Morris’s story.
