About this deal

The film, literary and video-game series has outlined several methods of distinguishing an imitation from an original creature, based around either blood-testing or searching for missing inorganic components (for example, tooth fillings or prosthetics). Blood tests work by coercing autonomous Thing cells (imitating blood cells) to act in self-preservation - for example, crawling away from a hot needle. Another blood test variant is the blood serum test, where a suspected imitation's blood is mixed with uncontaminated blood; which will hypothetically react if the creature is an imposter. The 2002 video-game, The Thing, adds a further method of testing in the blood test hypo - a portable blood testing device which exposes a suspect's blood to a caustic chemical agent.

While Hot Toys has dominated the scale and Mondo is more known for their vinyls, this is a chance for this pop culture company to capitalize on an area of the market that’s rarely covered. Horror is the one genre Hot Toys rarely makes figures for. If you want collectors to know you’re serious in this highly competitive market Mondo made the right choice by starting with The Thing. The film is beloved because of its claustrophobic nightmarish atmosphere where you can’t trust anyone or anything. The paranoia Carpenter created to this day is as nauseating as ever. Many consider it the director's best film and the legendary practical effects work only adds to the mind-blowing legacy of this cold as ice horror thriller. It has been stated that not even director John Carpenter himself knows precisely when each character was assimilated by The Thing. In fact for the first assumed assimilation by the malamute in the US base showed it walking into the bedroom of a silhouetted figure played by a stunt actor just to keep his identity ambiguous. However it is often argued to be either Palmer or Norris, though arguments towards Blair and Fuchs are not unheard of (though the shadow does not have facial hair as Fuchs does and is not balding as Blair is). Some intelligence theories can be hindered in the game however, wherein the larger creatures (bosses) should be smart enough to stay hidden and not be noticed as to avoid harm or if they do reveal themselves, they should be in a formidable and efficient form. Unfortunately, they are in a multitude of otherwise massive and useless forms which have no intention of hiding themselves from view and their chosen forms act primarily with little intelligence. Their forms are usually immobile, meaning they are too large and useless to form transportation such as legs.Bennings in the process of assimilation, The Thing (1982). " Probability that one or more team members may be infected by intruder organism: -75%-" —Blair's 1st projection " Projection: if intruder organism reaches civilized areas...

Keri Russell, whose breakthrough role in the college drama Felicity was only two years away at that point, plays a crucial but difficult role in The Lottery . Popular school teacher Felice Dunbar is unlike other New Hopers, who are more standoffish than usual. No, she greets Jason with a warm smile that hides an unpleasant secret. Having grown up in New Hope, Felice naturally believes The Lottery serves a good purpose, but meeting Jason makes her question everything. And for a minute, it would seem Russell’s character is capable of shaking off years worth of indoctrination. As part of their ongoing Toy Fair reveals, NECA has just announced the addition of the monster mutt to their The Thing toy line also sharing a first look at a work-in-progress of the dog, which will be available in two forms.

‘Scream 7’ – New Report Sheds Light on the Current Plans

McFarlane Toys also made figures from The Thing as part of their “Movie Maniacs” line, but they only got around to making “Norris Creature” and “Blair Monster.” In the 1982 film, a shape-shifting alien looks for someplace warm to hide and assumes the appearance of its victims – including that of a kennel of Norwegian dogs, Alaskan Malamutes which become a blob of revolting, slimy, and straight-up horrifying flesh. John Carpenter’s The Thing – Ultimate R.J. MacReady “Outpost 31″ Ultimate 7” Scale Figure by NECA Toys The award-winning non-canon short story The Things by Peter Watts tells part of the story of the original movie from the creature's own perspective, describing its horror at how the bodies of creatures from Earth function compared to its own.

This perhaps also accounts for why the Norris-Thing's spider-head scurried from its hiding spot when it did. Maybe its body mass was not sufficiently large enough to form an intelligent brain center. Consequently, it didn't know enough not to blow its cover when the men still presented a danger, likely assuming they would be too distracted by the breaking down of it's primary body to notice it. Almost one year ago, NECA celebrated Kurt Russell‘s birthday with the reveal of an “Ultimate” action figure of the actor’s character from John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror masterpiece, The Thing. It is not known whether the Thing is a technological species, or whether the ship that it first reached Earth in was its own. It could be that the reason it crashed was because the original pilot was killed, and the creature was unable to manage the controls. However, the assimilated Blair was able to create a smaller version of the saucer, and recognized the threat posed by a detonator, its also possible that the original UFO didn't belong to the thing but if the thing assimilated the pilot then it would have its memories and knowledge, thus being able to build a ufo. As part of their Toy Fair reveals this past spring, NECA announced the addition of the monster mutt to their The Thing toy line also sharing the first look at a work-in-progress of the dog, which will be available in two forms. Any form of the Thing is capable of frightening amounts of strength, speed and stamina, such as the case with the Kennel Thing, which subdued and assimilated multiple sled dogs, and especially the Centipede-Thing, which overpowered Jonas in moments, despite the vast size difference.

In the 1982 film, a shape-shifting alien looks for someplace warm to hide and assumes the appearance of its victims – including that of a kennel of Norwegian dogs, Alaskan Malamutes which become a blob of revolting, slimy, and straight-up horrifying flesh. The 7″ scale action figure, dubbed the “40th Anniversary Poster Figure” by NECA, is a Convention Exclusive 2022, shown off by NECA as part of this week’s con exclusive reveals. Toys based on the movie have been announced by other companies more recently, but they were unfortunately canceled. Needless to say, it’s a big deal that NECA now has the license. The Original Thing is first encountered by the Norwegian crew at Thule Station during the winter of 1982 when they discovered the frozen corpse of a creature that seemed to have briefly survived the crash of what appeared to be an extraterrestrial space vessel 100,000 years ago.

However, Shane isn't just a movie guy. He also loves video games. Super Mario Sunshine, The Last of Us Part 1 and 2, and Batman: Arkham City are some of his favorites. Music plays a big part in his life as well. Given that Shane's a big horror fan, you might be surprised to learn that he's a pop guy. Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, The Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato play on repeat while he's writing. The figure is based on MacReady’s general appearance near the beginning of the film, up until his visit to the Norwegian camp. The figure looks fantastic in person. Mac includes a regular head sculpt, and two head sculpts with the hood on. The head sculpts are produced in a way, that I believe, that NECA can swap the hair and hoods out during production for additional alternate heads. There is a little bit of space where the hair and hoods separate, allowing you to slide the sunglasses under them. That is handled really well, and looks natural without having to have two small holes on the sides of the heads. The goggles, at first, feel like they’re going to be too tight to fit over the portraits. But I was happy with how much give the vinyl band has and never felt like it was going to snap. But I will say use some caution when placing it on the head just to be safe. The hands swap out with no trouble, and you can remove the base of the gloves from the wrist area when using the bare hands. There are different hands for holding the different accessories. Toys based on the movie have been announced by other companies more recently, but they were unfortunately canceled. Needless to say, it’s a big deal that NECA now has the license.Having the MacReady figure in-hand is almost surreal at this point. For years, it seemed like there would be little chance of new figures based on The Thing. I’ve had the figure in-hand for some time now, keeping the sealed box on my photography table just so I can look at it, while waiting to shoot some photos. Now that the figure has hit a bit early, I moved him up in my shooting schedule, and was excited to finally dig in. I even opened my sealed 21 year old McFarlane Norris Thing to use in this shoot. Overall, I think fans are really going to enjoy the figure, and it’s great to see an officially licensed figure from The Thing. Now we just need some of the other cast, and lots of “Things” to join Mac. Now, at the San Diego Comic-Con, NECA has the full prototype on display, which includes two various stages of the dog’s transformation.
