About this deal

Any character that sees their name written more than once in the book was eventually given their own perspective, leaving the storytelling muddy and confused. I was often left spellbound, only to be unexpectedly dragged away to some irrelevant and boring passage. I’m all for cliffhangers, but they have to be done well, and Weeks hasn’t the writing know-how to pull this off.

The most complex character was probably Durzo himself. He was such a vivid tangle of feelings and emotions. It was obvious that Durzo wanted to not care about life, nor himself, but that it was impossible for him. Despite trying to distance himself, Durzo was connected to several people by such a delicate strand of love. No matter how hard he tried, it was impossible for Durzo to sever the thread.

Un primer libro cuya lectura ha sido exitosa de una saga que llevaba en mi saca mucho tiempo y siempre ha oido hablar de Brent Weeks.

First let me praise the book though, so that any of my grievances will not necessarily dissuade you from reading The Way of Shadows. Elene left Kylar and went to join Logan's army so Kylar would fight in the upcoming war. After being given the chance to live forever and have a life with Kylar and their child, she was taken by Khali, an old ka'karifier. Khali confronted Kylar, using Elene's body and playing on Kylar's love for Elene to control him. However, Elene overcame Khali and told Kylar to kill her to destroy Khali, and therefore destroying the vir. Kylar was distraught at this, however, he did it and Elene died in Kylar's arms. The baby was thought by most to die with her. However, Vi noticed that Jenine was having twins. Dorian, now mad, grinned at her, confirming her suspicions as only he would be powerful enough to transport the unborn baby into another womb. She chose not to tell Kylar just yet. [2] Viridiana Sovari [ ] If you have a party who’s willing to work as a team and play to the strengths of your skillset, the Way of Shadows can vastly improve your party’s stealthiness and its raw destructive power. One last concern: if your DM doesn’t actively think about and include pools of dim light in their dungeons or combat arenas, you might have a bad time. Talk to your Dungeon Master if you want to play this subclass, and ask them to think about the way their dungeons are lit, since you’ll often be at the mercy of where to find light and shadow. Suggested Build The way of Shadows had been waiting for me to read for a very long time, and I’m glad I finally got around it. It’s a gritty coming of age story that has a great cast of characters and an intricate plot. While it has a few minor flaws it’s a fantastic debut by Brent Weeks. By moving a basic light source, such as a desk lamp, closer or further away from an egg you can observe how the shape and position of the shadows change. Next, you can position the lamp to the side, then point it straight down or even up onto the egg to see how it alters things. It can be interesting to notice how areas you thought might be in shadow receive a touch of light reflected from the surface the egg is sitting on.

Fantasy Series We Recommend

Kylar later poisons Momma K, but also grants her the antidote out of mercy then comes face to face with Roth who is surrounded by vurdmeisters. Roth reveals himself as Rat, who had survived the earlier attempt on his life. Solon arrives outside with Curoch, the ancient magical sword that once belonged to Midcyru's first emperor, Jorsin Alkestes, and uses it to slay a large group of vurdmeisters. Kylar kills all of Roth's guard and eventually Roth himself, but dies in the process. While in the state of death, Kylar meets a mysterious figure known as the Wolf and is given the choice of an immortal life as the Night Angel or death in either heaven or hell. He chooses Elene and life and is revived. Kylar and Elene make up and decide to try for a life together along with Uly whom they adopt. While Roth was killed, his army successfully took over the castle and the city, allowing his father to conquer Cenaria, forcing Kylar, Elene and Uly to leave the country. Durzo gazed into the frothy brown ale as if it held answers. It didn't, and he had a choice to make. The usual forced gaiety of the brothel swirled around him, but nobody male or female bothered him. Perhaps it was Retribution unsheathed on the table in front of him. Perhaps it was merely the look on his face. But the other… oooh, my. Lord General Agon, ladies and gentlemen. Lord General Brant Agon, with a single swift swing of his sword, became my favourite literary character of all the ones I’ve encountered this year. Durzo and Momma K (who runs a brothel) took Kyler out of a bad situation and tried to teach him book learning and how to kill. Seems kinda funny when it's read in that context, but that's how it is. Momma K tried to help a lot of kids as much as she could. I don't like the fact they called assassins wetboys, it sounds just weird to me, but I digress.
