The book is kind of like "Are You There God? It's me Margaret" for boys. Tony, the main character, is going through puberty and starts spying on the girl next door. He even asks for binoculars for Christmas so he can watch her. It's weird to read the book and see how it's no big deal that's he watching the girl next door undress. He even tells the psychologist he's seeing for anxiety about it and he doesn't even react! Today the kid would be in a treatment program for juvenille sex offenders but in the book it's no big deal. She achieved many things and also faced challenges because of the ideas conveyed in her books. She was awarded over ninety literary awards. “She was included among the Living Legends in the Writer category by the Library of Congress in 2000 for her distinguished work for cultural heritage. He has received three lifetime achievement awards.” (Famous Authors) With recognitions, she also had books that were criticized and are present in the banned books’ list.

Victor (Vic) Miglione– Tony's father, who is a freelance electrician and an inventor whose invention changes their lives. Real Women Have Curves: Tony believes it. His earlier disgust with Corky is that he "can't stand skinny girls" and finds Lisa Hoober attractive with her beauty and how her body is "all curves". To a lesser extent, he disagrees with his father's assessment that Angie, Ralph's wife, has fat legs and Tony thinks she has nice legs. Raging Stiffie: Tony is going through puberty, and often gets erections at embarrassing times, such as in school.

I initially review Then Again Maybe I Won’t when I was around 13, and also it has actually remained among my most liked publications. It is the major book, fact be informed, that I have actually read greater than 3 times. I valued whatever concerning this book, yet most especially I was blown away with the advancement and also understanding of the key personality, Tony. He was someone I can associate with, and also at that young age, he was furthermore someone. Judy Blume – Then Again, Maybe I Won’t Audiobook Free Online I would certainly have intended to have actually fulfilled and also dealt with as a buddy. Ms. Blume has a technique for expanding her personalities and also making them seem human. I currently can not appear to browse one more youngsters’ book that captured so efficiently the injury of pubescence, the chaos of expanded- up links, and also the severe truth of averting your young people to realize the troubles of manliness. Read it! It’s an unbelievablebook Tony meets a neighbor, Joel Hoober, a boy his own age. While Joel's manners impress Mr. and Mrs. Miglione, Tony sees Joel's true colors in private: he secretly engages in misbehaviors such as prank calls, underage drinking, reading graphic novels, and shoplifting, and encourages Tony to participate as well. Then again, Maybe I won’t was banned mainly because the information included came to known as age restricted. Most of Judy Blume’s books are at the top of the challenged/banned list because topics of her books mainly focuses on adultery issues. The book dealt with controversial topics such as sexuality, masturbation etc. These are the topics that a parent wouldn’t want their childrens to be reading about. But why? These same children are eventually going to be exposed to bad words, real truths, and changes in their life so, why not now? “These critics among them, parents, librarians, book reviewers, liberal and conservative groups, and other authors call her books shallow, simplistic, unchallenging, poorly written even pandering, salacious, and trashy.” (unknown) Millicent– Hispanic housekeeper to the Hoobers who seems to be the only one who is aware of Joel's misbehaviorI know I keep gushing about Judy Blume but once again she proves to be one of the best young adult novelists ever. I loved that this story--told from the POV of the male lead Tony--is just a strong a reflection of the juinior high years as "Are There God---It's Me Margaret."

Anthony (Tony) Miglione– Protagonist of the book who is 12 (later 13) years old, the youngest of three boys. Abhorrent Admirer: Tony's skinny and childish looking classmate, Kathryn "Corky" Thomas, has a crush on him and isn't at all shy about letting him know. Initially he wishes she would just leave him alone, but by the end of the novel he decides she's not so annoying after all and even begins to dream about her. Reading from Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, he led the crowd in a rousing call of the classic line, ‘We must, we must, we must increase our bust!’ (Sara Antil) Judy Blume’s books are a way to let the readers know about unknown teenage issues that a person hardly thinks of. Her book faced challenges also because of the time period it was published in. The 70s era was not open to these ideas because the country was underdeveloped and had strict traditions and cultures which didn’t allow such things.Kids Raiding the Wine Cabinet: Tony, his rich next door friend Joel and his old friend from the inner city, Frankie, are hanging out in Joel's basement when Joel jimmies into his father's liquor cabinet. The three boys get drunk. Then Again, Maybe I Won't is actually one of the few Judy Blume novels from the 1970s that I did not read as a teenager (in the early 1980s). Yes, I did in fact remember signing Then Again, Maybe I Won't out of our school library, but then returned it mostly unread because at that time of my life (from about 1980 to 1984) I was just not all that interested in reading a novel for pleasure (and in fact any novel) that did not have a teenaged girl but instead a teenaged boy as a main protagonist (as I was personally at that time finding the boys in my class annoyingly immature and boring and could therefore also not imagine finding Then Again, Maybe I Won't either all that relatable or readable, since Tony Miglione, the main protagonist, indeed is a thirteen year old teenaged boy).

But while such accusatory responses have come from adults, the letters Blume has received from young readers paint a different picture. ‘Thank you for letting me know I’m normal,’ read one of the letters presented.” (Sara Antil) At first the book didn’t receive any applauds however, as time passed people started realizing the importance of gaining more knowledge about something rarely talked about. Blume was fearless about her work and said “It’s best not to dwell on what you’ve written, wishing it could be different.” (Judy Blume) The book eventually became successful and left a strong message to its readers. This is the story of Tony Miglione, a thirteen year old boy from Jersey City. His family is used to living a modest lifestyle until his father sells an invention and makes quite a bit of money! The family moves to a Long Island town called Rosemont and discovers a lifestyle filled with all of life's creature comforts, and more! Theft: Joel repeatedly steals from stores and the school cafeteria. It bothers Tony immensely, but he’s afraid to say anything. After moving to Long Island, Tony frequently spies on Lisa and watches her change clothes. For Christmas, Tony asks for binoculars under the guise of a newfound interest in bird watching. In reality, he wants to get a better view of Lisa. He has wet dreams involving her and fears his parents or the housekeeper will know. Dad tries to have a sex talk with Tony, in which Tony informs Dad he’s knows how babies are made. Dad asks Tony if he’s sure the friend who told him gave him the right information. Tony says yes, and Dad is satisfied. Dad assures Tony, unconvincingly, that he’s there to answer any questions the boy has. He gives Tony a book called Basic Facts About Sex. A gym teacher tells the boys about wet dreams, which he calls nocturnal emissions. Maxine– Housekeeper to the Migliones who directs the house her way and will not let Tony's grandmother cook anymore. She eventfully softens as the book progresses.

I liked this book a lot because Tony always had such a good head on his shoulder throughout the whole novel. Sure, there were a few things he did (if you've read this book, you'll know what I mean) that were... immoral. But what thirteen year old doesn't have a few bad habits? Haha. Then Again follows this genre of youth fiction from that era. Tony, the protagonist, and his family (not a terribly dysfunctional or broken family, though with plenty of room for improvement) move from their working class neighborhood in Jersey City to an upper-class area of Long Island after his dad becomes recognized as a genius and has all the money the family could possibly want, forever. Tony befriends the boy next door, who looks perfect on the surface but is actually a real jerk with the beginnings of some serious problems. Tony has his own problems, figuring out how to deal with his family and with his own adolescent development. Judy is a longtime advocate of intellectual freedom. Finding herself at the center of an organized book banning campaign in the 1980's she began to reach out to other writers, as well as teachers and librarians, who were under fire. Since then, she has worked tirelessly with the National Coalition Against Censorship to protect the freedom to read. She is the editor of Places I Never Meant To Be, Original Stories by Censored Writers. Scott Gold– Another new friend of Tony's, who is in all of Tony's classes at school. He is often seen with Tony, Marty Endo, and Joel Hoober as a group. Judy received a B.S. in education from New York University in 1961, which named her a Distinguished Alumna in 1996, the same year the American Library Association honored her with the Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement. Other recognitions include the Library of Congress Living Legends Award and the 2004 National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.
