About this deal

Lark twists her lips, considering. “There’s a certain peace in death, but unrest will follow if you allow it.”

I really did try to like her, I really did. I saw this book as more of a funny in between story because if I had delved into thinking this book actually meant to be SERIOUS? I would’ve been heartbroken- more so than I currently am. Overall, I really enjoyed this duology. The first book was even better the second time around, and this one has this unputdownable quality. I just couldn’t stop reading it, partly because I was just so desperate to know who Brie would end up with: the one she loves, or the one she’s forever bonded to and still cares for?I drive my heels into the sides of the horse. She takes off, galloping at full speed while I hold on as tightly as I can. My stomach is sour at the thought of children being injected with anti-magic toxin, at the thought of them being imprisoned at all. The unclean ones, he called them. Is that a term used for prisoners or for Unseelie? I think I already know the answer, and it makes anger steam in my blood.

My wings are broken. I cannot be a bird. A bird is too kind and powerful, I’m weak. I’m the soil beneath the feet that trample my very being.”I plop a bag of coins onto the counter. My old thieving ways are serving me well. This fae gold is courtesy of a drunken orc at a tavern an hour west from here, where I’d originally planned to stay for the night. The orc had spotted me heading to use the facilities and thought he’d catch me in there and put his hands on me. I may have been exhausted, but I wasn’t too tired to wrap him in darkness so deep he’d cried like a baby while he begged me to release him. This is a throne of the night, of the misfits and the lost. This is the throne for all those who had to endure the darkness to find the stars..." Since I disliked this book passionately, I shall describe in excruciating detail how many things this book did right. Stencil sprayed edges are done manually, and due to the capacity issues at printers we are unable to get as many books with the stencil design as we normally would. This book will look stunning with a solid sprayed edge, and we can’t wait for you to see it! The reminder of my connection with Sebastian makes me ride harder. I don’t know if I can escape it, if I can mute his misery and heartache with distance alone, but I plan to try.

As for the primary characters, they comprise the same individuals from the previous book. Brie, Finn, and Sebastian all return, and each of them undergoes some type of transformation over the course of the book, becoming better versions of themselves. Even Sebastian, my least favorite character, becomes tolerable by the book’s end. Finn’s band of misfits also return, injecting humor and warmth into the story. Plus, who doesn’t love the found family trope? There was a big political aspect in the first book as Sebastian and Finn were both after Oberon’s crown so they could claim the Unseelie throne, but the stakes are higher in this book. The Unseelie court is starting to die because nobody can sit on the throne, Queen Arya is moving her forces to claim the Unseelie lands, and if Brie, Finn, and Sebastian don’t find a way to work together to find a solution, their court will die, and Arya will have control over both courts. We could feel the urgency and the bigger implications in this book. It was not just about two brothers fighting for power anymore, it was about saving a whole realm, and stopping a tyrant from gaining even more power. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THIS GOD-AWFUL LOVE CORNER🤦Pls this shit was so irritating, we all knew since the beginning who she'll end up and it was just so enraging🤬, like the guy🧝 manipulated and lied to her gazillion times and she still came running🏃 to him whenever he opened his mouth. What's his face: After that ending, I don't entirely hate him, but dude, this boy was INTENSE. Let me show you: Finn was, and remains, my favorite character in this duology. He also has much more space in this book, and it was AWESOME to see him so much and to see his sweetness and kindness with Brie and all the other faes around him. Seeing how he is willing to leave the throne to Sebastian if it’s what’s best for the Unseelies, and him saying that he was not raised to rule the Unseelies, but rather to serve them made me love him so much more! He truly cares about the well-being of his people, and always puts them before him or his ambitions, and I admire that.

Those wrinkled lips twist in consideration. “I’m not in the business of selling clothes, and the tailor’s shop is closed for the night.” At my hard look, she sighs. “But . . .” She looks me over. “You could likely fit into something of mine. I’ll make it work.” She sniffs, and I wonder what she smells. Do I still smell like a human despite being turned fae? Can she smell the palace on me? Faeries have impeccable senses, but in my short hours in this transformed body, I’ve only found the heightened awareness of every sound, sight, and smell distracting. It’s too overwhelming to do any good.

We are thrilled to present to you the FairyLoot exclusive edition of ‘These Twisted Bonds’ by Lexi Ryan, brought to you in collaboration with@ hodderscapeand@ writerlexiryan!I’m exhausted and impatient, my instincts at war. Half of me wants to sleep forever while the other half wants to set out to help the Unseelie children right now. But I don’t have the first idea where to go or what I’d be walking into, and I need sleep desperately. On a closing note, I’m sure you’re as tired as I am of my words jumping in and out (or you were viciously hooked to this review! In which case, here’s a wedding ring and you can choose the venue for our elopement), I do think this book had potential. There was a chance for the characters to grow personalities and wings that weren’t brittle, character development to take those wings and turn them into armor. I did find this addictive and unputdownable, but at the same time, would I read it if I were to suddenly develop elective memory loss?
