One small, shining light in all this gloom was the Celtic Park announcer, the legendary Radio Clyde DJ, “Tiger Tim” Stevens (see right). A verifiable nutter from Easterhouse he was known for appalling comedy 45s (that’s songs on single record discs to you youngsters) and hosting his radio show in the nude in the ’70s. His star was very much in the descendancy but he could still raise the odd laugh, much needed at those times. It includes the vinyl records and CDs, many of which have been signed by the artists," he says, with real pride in his voice. Tim’s Great Grandfather is a big inspiration for our show. He was a “Foundling” child in the 1880s. The Foundling, at Coram Fields Hospital in London, was the first children’s charity in the world. The orphanage saved the life of Tim’s relative and ensured that his grandmother, father, auntie, brothers and sister, nephews and nieces, Tim himself, and of course, Tiger, could be born. There are millions more deserving children today, that need a chance to grow, thrive and not just survive. It was hilarious listening to his show and hearing listeners sing along to the pop hits of the day." DJ ‘Tiger’ Tim Stevens was best known for his work on Radio Clyde, where he would play comical songs. He was a crazy character from Easterhouse and was rumoured to have hosted his radio show in the nude at times in the 1970s! His fondness for a laugh earnt him the gig as Celtic PA announcer, but it was also to be his downfall. Stevens left Radio Clyde in May 1975 to try his hand at being a pop star (he had released a number of songs which he would play on his own show with his band called the Aff Its Heid Band, a group of young Glasgow musicians), but he returned to the Radio Clyde shortly afterwards.
