About this deal

The Turtle Beach Audio Hub app for iOS and Android phones is a modest, but useful configuration app. It allows you to switch among four audio presets, or create a custom balance between bass and treble. It doesn’t give you full EQ level controls, so it isn’t as robust as what you’d find on a PC headset, but it’s more than you get with many console headsets. The Turtle Beach Audio Hub V2 desktop app has received an update to v3.14.6.84 (PC) and v3.14.6.83 (Mac). However, as a consequence the Stealth 700 Gen 2 feels incredibly durable, and will likely stand tall in the face of a few unintended drops to the floor or rough handling by younger players. In terms of quality, they feel a step up on Turtle Beach’s cheaper products.

The Turtle Beach Audio Hub mobile app for iOS and Android has received an update to 3.14.8 (201) for iOS and 3.14.8 (232) for Android. Turtle Beach pays good attention to detail, too, with a ProSpecs feature that allows you to adjust the earpieces if you wear glasses. The boom mic automatically mutes when you push it upwards, and we also like the fact that the mic folds into the body of the left earpiece, hiding it completely when it’s not in use. While it doesn’t reach the high standards set by some of its rivals, those after a competitively priced and incredibly capable gaming headset will be more than satisfied with the Stealth 700 Gen 2. So long as you’ve got a Bluetooth dongle, this is a headset that can be used across multiple platforms with relative ease. It isn’t confined to the console it was made for, which is excellent for those who jump between different machines on a regular basis. The microphone isn’t the most attractive piece of design. It’s a lump of plastic housed within the left earcup, which can be flipped down and switched on whenever you need it. I adore the intuitive nature of this design, meaning you’ll never need to go through the fuss of muting yourself or actually spending an entire match of Overwatch not realising that your rambles at the useless Widowmaker have been heard by the entire lobby. Yes, that happened to me.

How good is the battery life of the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX?

In terms of inputs, everything is on the left earcup. Buttons for Bluetooth connectivity, power, and audio are all nestled closely together. Volume and balance wheels are found just above them, with obvious indentations making it relatively easy to adjust things without pulling the headset off completely. Admittedly, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max isn’t the most elegant of headsets, and its bulky earpieces and sturdy metal and plastic headband mean that you look like a Cyberman from Dr Who. The design is very comfortable, though, and the earpieces’ memory foam padding, with a dash of cooling gel, stops you from overheating when the going gets tough. This headset strikes a wonderful balance regardless of what you’re playing, which is especially impressive given the conservative asking price. Cooling gel-infused ear cushions ensure all of the sound is trapped within your ears, stopping any leakage from the game itself, voice chat and all other applications in which you’re engaged. A new firmware update is ready for your Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox and PlayStation ®! Connect your headset to the Turtle Beach Audio Hub program on your PC or Mac to update your device’s firmware to version (v.2.0.2). Bluetooth greatly expands the headset’s utility. It’s much easier to pair the headset with a PC, and you can pair it with other devices, like your phone. Better yet, you can pair it with a Bluetooth device and an Xbox simultaneously. This allows you to adjust audio levels on the fly while playing, but also lets you listen to a podcast or take a call on your phone while listening to your Xbox audio at the same time. (As someone who likes to put on a podcast while playing some games, this was a huge revelation for me).

The Turtle Beach Audio Hub mobile app for iOS and Android has received an update to v3.14.5 (189) for iOS and v3.14.5 (220) for Android. Weirdly, The Messenger – a platformer with music made to sound like something you’d hear on 8- and 16-bit-style consoles – presented some of the only noticeable audio hiccups. Some complex, high notes in the music would come through scratchy and muddled.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is a new generation and a new high point for brand

Update 10/21/2021: We've changed Multi-Device Pairing from 'No' to 'Bluetooth + Console/Non-BT Wireless' as these headphones can connect to a PS4 or PS5 console and a Bluetooth device at the same time. We could confirm this by pairing the headphones to the PlayStation using the included dongle. Then, we pressed the headphones' Bluetooth pairing button to connect it to our smartphone. Once paired to both devices, you can hear the menu sounds from the PlayStation while also simultaneously hearing audio playing from your phone. As a result, we have updated our review, and the scoring of this box has changed. Like the Stealth 600 Gen 2, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 supports virtual 7.1 surround sound through Windows Sonic, and offers a functional, but not particularly rousing virtual surround sound experience. In games like Apex Legends, you can hear directionality of gunfire, footsteps and other sounds, but sounds coming from your side or behind you sometimes sound disproportionately loud. On the Stealth 700 Gen 2 specifically, I noticed that Windows Sonic created compression issues, which led to little pip noises coming out of nowhere every so often. Simply put, most games sound better with it off. Beyond such accidents, the microphone is more than adequate for regular gameplay and partying up with friends. I wouldn’t depend on it for accurate voice recording, but this likely isn’t something the average gamer will even consider. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 can be connected to a mobile device to take calls and listen to music, although it’s likely a little too bulky to wear in public, and it’s impossible to fold it up for easier storage. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 conclusion The Turtle Beach Audio Hub will be available for the Stealth™ 600 USB for Xbox and Stealth™ 600 MAX for Xbox soon!

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 – SoftwareThe Stealth 700 Gen 2 uses two pieces of software, both called Turtle Beach Audio Hub. The Audio Hub app on your gaming PC only communicates with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 as a means of upgrading its firmware. You’ll need it, but you’ll rarely use it.A new firmware update is ready for your Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox and PlayStation ®! Connect your headset to the Turtle Beach Audio Hub program to update your device’s firmware to version (v.2.0.1). The Stealth 700 Gen 2 has a slimmer version of Turtle Beach’s usual built-in microphone. The hard plastic mic is built into the housing of the left earcup, so it sits flush when flipped up into mute position. The flip-down mic is very convenient and easy to use, but can’t really be repositioned. It has a secondary hinge letting you move slightly closer or further from your face, but it’s a far cry from the reshapable wire mics you find from many other manufacturers. Voice chat is intuitive for both variants, with the mic switching on dynamically as you pull it down from its holding position. Audio and mic – Punchy sound and a crystal-clear microphone impress
