The UMIK-1 is an omni-directional USB measurement microphone providing Plug & Play acoustic measurement. From speaker & room acoustic measurement to recording, this microphone provides low noise and accurate results you can rely on. Forget about driver installation, OS compatibility and un-calibrated mics. The Umik-1 is a USB Audio class 1 device automatically recognized by all Operating Systems (Windows/Mac) and Ipad with Camera Connection Kit. It is provided with a unique calibration file based on the serial number to insure an accurate measurement. Combined with our recommended acoustic measurement software, it is the perfect match for a plug&play measurement system. Features The following links contain additional information on room acoustics and measurement that you may find helpful: The main measurement plot shows a frequency measurement graph in red. At the left is a small "thumbnail" version of the measurement - each time you make a new measurement, a new thumbnail will appear here. At the top of the screen are buttons that access various tools and immediately above the measurement is a row of tabs that show different "views" of the measurement. Make sure to configure the plugin to binaural audio output. See the ambiMIK-1 manual for other settings you might want to modify. You can easily confirm that the VST plugin works as it should as only 2 channels will now become active under the Audio Mixer. This plot shows that there are slowly-decaying resonances around 26, 30, 57 and 74 Hz. With this type of graph, you may need to adjust some display parameters on the Controls and Limits popup windows to get the most useful and informative plot.

Please make sure to start reading our application notes to be up and running in no time! Configure OBS as a multichannel stream. Under OBS, go to File -> Settings - > Audio Tab. We'll select 4.0 as the audio configuration. A dialog box will prompt you to name the source. With the latest REW version (Beta , the UMIK-2 is automatically recognized by the software and prompted for use when REW is started with the microphone plugged in. REW offers a set of plots that show how different frequencies decay in time. These are generally used in the "modal region" of the room's acoustic response, from say 20 to 300 Hz, where resonances in the room dominate the measured frequency response. A well-known plot of this type is the "waterfall" plot, or cumulative spectral decay: Recommended values of reverberation time depend on the type of system (e.g. music or home theater), the size of the room, and the type of speaker. However, 300 ms to 500 ms (0.3 to 0.5 seconds) is a commonly recommended range. It can be seen that this room is within this range but towards the high end for a good part of the frequency band. Upon opening SignalScope Pro, it will detect the presence of the connected UMIK-1 and query you for its serial number:

I own some Earthworks M23, M30 and isemCON EMX-7150 as well as the dbx RTA mic, and the aforementioned Behringer. I also regularly use very expensive B&K mics and preamps. For most field work, I use the three Sonarworks mics I own, because they’re good enough for 90% of the audible range and multi-mic measurements are the way forward.NOTE: if you can't see the miniDSP ambiMIK-1 VST from this list, it's most likely because you didn't copy over the VST files in the correct folder as it will search the plugin in the following folders. Make sure to copy the VST files into one of these folders. For questions or issues specifically related to OBS, please refer to the OBS Forum and its online tutorials.Why is the graph so uneven? Shouldn't we have a flat frequency response? Mostly, it's because of the room. Room modes (resonances) and reflections in a room act to make a nice flat loudspeaker response into a roller-coaster. As a standard USB audio microphone, UMIK-2 is compatible with any software. The following proven platforms with plug&play integration.
