This ground-breaking car seat has an airbag built into the impact shield to provide protection in the event of a crash. Read the full Cybex Anoris T i-Size review to find out how it scores.

The Hifold is weight based, so needs a minimum weight of 15kg. No minimum height (but bear the 100cm recommendation in mind). It was included in the 2020 ADAC tests. You can see the results of those through Which? (in English and detailed, but paid) or here for free in German (all further OAMTC links can also be viewed on Which?):

Please observe the instructions for using children's restraining systems in the operating instructions of your vehicle. Or there are a couple of Group 1 solutions you could look at - Maxi Cosi Nomad is a harness based seat, and folds for easy transport. Won't fit him for much longer, but you could use for your other child later on too. Up to 18kg/approx 105cm. No crash test result on this. It is a similar design to Urban Kanga which got quite a poor crash test result (and isn't any cheaper so I wouldn't bother with it) - the Maxi Cosi does look a bit more substantial and higher quality, based on nothing other than comparing the fitting videos, but don't know whether it's enough to make a difference. Obviously, portability and sturdiness are at odds with each other, you have to compromise some way or another. As my daughter (as of November 2022) is currently 2 years old and weighing 12kg, I chose to buy the Uptown model. With the Uptown model, I can ideally still use it up to 4 years old. I also preferred it because of its weight — 3kg.

Group 0+ is 0-13kg so should fit your 11 month old (unless they are enormous) regardless of being over 9 months. Generally you can ignore age ranges on car seats since the weight and/or height of the child is much more important, ages given are just a guide. Ps we found a car seat from Halfords at 3.5kg which tilts and goes up to age 6. It’s not foldeable (this may be why other brands no longer sell folding seats due to more recent regs) but is v sturdy. Not cheap but the plus side is 2 wks of non car seat hire washes its face. For more information on what goes into Which? car seat testing, read our guide on how we test baby and child car seats. Tagged as: The Urban Kanga is designed for forward-facing only, which makes it suitable for kids who have outgrown the rear-facing seats but still need that extra boost and protection. Its compatibility with a three-point seat belt means it’s a versatile choice for families who find themselves hopping from one car to another.

Booster seats for bigger kids

TinySeats is a bit of an unusual one with the isofix base. Again no crash test on it. It looks heavy. The inclusion of a booster mode seems strange and I wonder why they have done that, perhaps to make it seem like it lasts longer? But once you are in the booster age/stage, you will surely want a lighter and more practical travel option than this. I also wonder if including a booster option compromises on the other modes, it does seem to in most multi-mode seats for everyday use (that have been crash tested). However, great to have another option for rear facing if you want to, and the isofix plus support leg is likely to offer better protection from a frontal crash, though it doesn't look that different from the Urban Kanga for side impacts. As you note, needing isofix may be a problem. Make parenting a smidge easier by navigating the concrete jungle with your little one safely strapped in an Urban Kanga travel car seat. An essential for parents on the go, an Urban Kanga portable car seat offers you the freedom to go wherever you want with your child while safeguarding their safety by keeping vehicular accidents down to a minimum. Any straps holding the restraint to the vehicle should be tight and any straps restraining the child should be adjusted to the child’ s body size. The straps should not be twisted.

It’s a perfect transitional piece as your child grows and becomes more curious about the world zooming by! Adjustable Headrest and Harness Full disclosure, I’m a mum of 3 young kids but also the Co-founder of RyRyCompact along with my husband! We just got fed up of dragging a bulky car seat through the airport or even swapping between cars and taxis at home, so we set about creating our own about 3 years ago. Our ambition is to create the most premium, compact equipment to make like easier for parents. We have just launched the RyRy Scallop car seat in June this year and already won Silver for Best Car seat by Nursery Online and we’ve just been shortlisted for the same by Mother & Baby awards. So it’s all going really well so far. Our crash tests go beyond the minimum legal requirements for the current car seat regulations (R44.04 and R129), and they're derived from tests by Euro NCAP, the organisation that carries out crash tests on cars. So if you have a car waiting at your destination, it still offers some level of convenience. But if the plan is to use it on the plane, then this model is grounded in that department. Not Good for SnoozingIn our side impact crash tests, the head of the test dummy hit the side of the test car. If this occurred in a real accident, it could be very dangerous for your child. The included user guide is full of important information. We recommend reading through it so that under proper care and installation, your child can maximize the protective properties of the car seat. However, as a responsible manufacturer we are working on introducing an equivalent model to the Comfort Up which also complies with the new approval regulation R129.' What other Don't Buy car seats have we tested recently? Singapore private vehicles: Children under 1.35m tall should travel in an approved child restraint. “Approved” in Singapore is a broad term, which is great news for travellers! Car seats which carry the certification from the USA, UK, Australia, Europe or Japan are all acceptable. The reclining modes offer even more comfort to your child during road trips, while the harness and headrest are easy to adjust to deliver the best fit. The double cupholders are dishwasher-safe and fit most standard-sized sippy cups. And, since messes are part of taking a family road trip, the seat pad can easily be taken off and machine washed (without uninstalling the entire set-up). But the best feature of this travel car seat is that it can fit children up to 100 pounds and transforms into a booster seat, so you are basically investing in a car seat that will be with your kid for most of their childhood.
