In the case of the Wave Rider 25, the forefoot is remarkably flexible, placing much demand on the first ray and MTP joint. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING since it allows the foot to use the natural mechanism of creating a rigid lever in the foot. However, the flexible forefoot is worth considering for those with recurrent metatarsalgia pain or with known restrictions in that area.

The Wave Neo Wind and its extra cushioned counterpart, the Wave Neo Ultra, represent a more sustainable approach to running shoe production. The Neo Wind utilizes some of Mizuno’s latest tech, like Enerzy Lite foam, but it’s made with plant-based materials and produced with less resource-intensive manufacturing processes.

Performance: B+ (Relaxed ride for mileage, long runs and easy days. Bouncy but not enough for workouts)

Today, Mizuno has a reputation for creating durable and supportive shoes that work well for day-to-day training. That said, they’ve also made some exciting racing shoes, such as the Wave Rebellion Pro, which brought the brand into the “ super shoe” era. Stability: A- (Pretty much as stable as a neutral trainer gets, but some instability in the heel due to clunkiness and flexibly forefoot) If you like your Wave Riders snappy and firm, you won’t enjoy the Wave Rider 25 but if you prefer a softer, more flexible ride for mainly relaxed runs, the Wave Rider 25 will be right up your alley. It also has a separate wedge of Enerzy under the Wave Plate in its heel which is injection molded and more durable than the softer, top layer of compression molded Enerzy.
