The story that really stood out to me was the one from his scholarship donor that was apart of the Harvard School of Business, where he told Pasricha "Find small ponds so you can be the big fish." What an interesting perspective; and for a college student wanting a job in a business related field it was something I had never thought about. Of course we want to work for the biggest and best companies, but we are all competing for those jobs, where we wouldn't do much work. Why not take the risk and be the big fish in the small pond and bring a business up from bankruptcy. It's a difficult job but it was interesting advice.

With hard work and determination, practice and self-belief, and, most importantly, a Growth Mindset, there's no reason why anyone can't achieve anything.

I loves Pasricha’s thoughts on resilience and I couldn’t settle on who this book was best for, my son, my husband or my mother! Neil hits the nail on the head when it comes to adjusting your outlook on your own life and on people and the world around you. He puts a positive spin on what we might typically see as failure, bad news, short end of the straw. Opportunity awaits us around every corner and behind every door. It is just a matter of being able to see the good, be resilient, keep on going, and put yourself in the best situations to encourage success. I grew up with The Book of Awesome and The Book of (Even More) Awesome, so finding and reading You Are Awesome was like meeting a childhood friend who had also grown up and was here to share their life experiences and knowledge. Kind of like watching a movie and having the sequel come out ten years later, the characters aging with you and being relevant to your life experiences.

Sendo o autor alguém que começou como medíocre no ténis de mesa e que terminou a representar o Reino Unido por duas vezes em Jogos Olímpicos, o livro está cheio de pequeninas pérolas para levar a algumas mudanças de mindset, de forma a passar-se de uma "mentalidade fixa" a uma "mentalidade de crescimento". In fact, what if you could excel at anything you put your mind to? Practical, insightful and positive, this is the book to help children build resilience, embrace their mistakes and grow into successful, happy adults. Got this book for Bill my son, but ended up reading it myself. A book written for kids and young adults, but a nice read for parents as well. It talks about the usual stuff fixed vs growth mindset, see failures as learning opportunities, how to practice and how to break down goals into smaller parts. Pasricha writes with compassion and proactivity and reminds us that we are all works in progress. Sometimes self-help books can help you feel heard but not really have a plan, or make you feel like you are being talked down to and make you just feel worse. You Are Awesome contains straightforward steps that make you feel less alone but also help you move FORWARD.
