Basically, you’ve gotta decide whether the Tuo will sit on the forward holes or the rear holes. Essentially, if you’ve got a road bike, then you’ll configure it like the photos in this review. Whereas, if you’ve got a mountain bike, you’ll configure it on the other hole/channel. Where it is let down is when performing sprint efforts or varying intensity efforts such as 20/40s. At full price, the Tuo is too close to the direct drive trainer market - really you’d be best off saving up just a tiny bit more and getting one of those. However, what caught my eye is that your left-side is measuring a fair bit lower than I’d expect (on Favero Duo’s) – but in particular, that’s oddly flipped on your Giant (where your right side is measuring a fair bit lower). Typically speaking I don’t see people flip-flop dominancy that much. They tend to increase/decrease the dominancy, but not usually flip it the other way 10-12w per leg. If we ignore the Giant data, then the Favero and H3 are actually within the realm of reason of drivetrain efficiency losses combined with accuracy claims (right at the edge, but within the envelope nonetheless).

Mid December I got the infamous solid blue light issue, and Elite decided to send me a replacement board. There’s once again been almost no appreciable shift in this category this year, so things stay basically the same as last year. And, there’s really only a few entrants in this category anyway. Only Tacx, Elite, and in some areas Magene compete in this realm as a true smart trainer (ones where you can control resistance).

Elite Tuo Trainer Specs

The general setup wasn’t complex, but the massive booklet made the process overly complicated. The explanation of terms is beyond what is actually needed and could easily frustrate or overwhelm first-time smart trainer users.

Fifth, how do you move it around? This might sound silly – but if it’s a heavier trainer (which is most mid-range and above trainers), then is there some sort of handle to move the darn thing around? Most of these trainers come in at nearly 50 pounds (about 23KG) – so they’re beastly. In my case, I wouldn’t really care that much that my rest interval is off by 10w – it doesn’t impact anything for me in terms of training metrics or my recovery. Of course, I’d prefer it be accurate. But if I needed something to be accurate, the fact the work interval is nailed is good. In the sports world there are essentially two camps: ANT+ & Bluetooth Smart. Virtually all devices use one or both of these low-power technologies to transmit and capture information such as heart rate, power, speed, cadence, and more.

CADENCE

Then, rotate the upper knob outbound enough so your wheel will fit. You’ll notice it moves the Tuo very slowly, so much so you might not have noticed it does anything.
