It is fundamentally mendacious – an attempt to look as if you didn’t care about your appearance, while caring about it very much indeed. That’s a reason why sartorial brands trying to market their softer, relaxed sprezz outfits base their marketing on photoshoots of tousle-haire young men out on the town, and not young men in the boardroom. Ambience is nine tenths of the sartorial game. I won’t mention names, but Drake’s is one example.At some point I must have seen him roll his sleeves (at a young and impressionable age) and I’ve always done it that way since.
