There are several reasons why the Hubba Hubba 1 is the best one-person camping tent for rain. If you’ve ever camped in the rain, you know the mesh panels on the inner tent can allow moisture and condensation to pool, especially if the fly starts to dip. Easy Tension Adjustment makes keeping the tent taut a trivial task that can be accomplished while still in your sleeping bag. I’m excited about the non-toxic movement in camping gear. New dye and fabric treatment methods use less water and gentler chemicals but produce great results.
This is a nice tent, and a nice tent warrants a good, custom-cut footprint to protect it. Six Moon sells rectangular Tyvek and Polycro footprints in two sizes, but they’re not cut specifically to fit the irregular pentagon-shaped Lunar Solo. There’s a whole science to setting up a tent correctly. You want to make sure the fly is tight enough to bounce a quarter off; you’ve got to make sure you’re not on a slope, and if you are on a hill, that your head is facing uphill. The canopy and floor of the Scout are constructed with 190T Polyester. Since this fabric is used in literally millions of tents, it is very cost effective. Incorporating Polyester fabric into the Scoutmakes it the most affordable ultralight tent on the market today.
The pole is pitched at a slight angle so it doesn’t intrude into the living area. The top of your trekking pole fits into the tent peak, which also has a top vent (the Lunar Solo is Pacer Pole compatible, as shown.) The carbide tip of your pole fits into a grommet attached to the tent floor, providing a nice stable support that won’t slip at night. There’s a single guyline that runs from the peak to the ground and prevents the pole from falling. It’s really quite a strong setup. A hook connects the door to a prusik knot which slides up and down the guyline and is used to tension it. An optional 49 in (124 cm) pole is available in carbon fiber (1.8 oz / 51 g) or aluminum (3.2 oz / 90 g) The peak height on The One is quite generous at 45″ and, despite a small interior footprint, has a relatively large vestibule at 10 square feet.
BOTTOM LINE

Despite being a one-man tent, there are two tent doors and two vestibules. As with other tents, you can zip the vestibules closed or you can prop them up with trekking poles for an awning-style shelter. Six Moon Designs (SMD) is one of the pioneers in the ultralight gear industry. SMD’s Lunar Solo ( gear review he re) has been one of the most popular single-person tents since its release in 2005. The Skyscape Trekker, introduced in 2011, is a significantly different shelter design. The diamond-shaped shelter has two doors and two vestibules. The Skyscape Trekker has a hybrid double-wall design with a large mesh interior, significantly reducing interior condensation. The Lunar Solo weighs 26 oz. While there are lighter tents out there, it has among the best weight to usable space ratios we've seen of any ultralight tents.
