The Delonghi Pinguino PAC N82 Eco offers silent operation and it features three modes – air conditioning, dehumidification and fan only. It is controlled using simple soft touch controls with LED display or using the included remote control. The basal penguins lived around the time of the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event somewhere in the general area of (southern) New Zealand and Byrd Land, Antarctica. [3] Due to plate tectonics, these areas were at that time less than 1,500 kilometres (930mi) apart rather than the 4,000 kilometres (2,500mi) of today. The most recent common ancestor of penguins and their sister clade can be roughly dated to the Campanian– Maastrichtian boundary, around 70–68 mya. [31] [33] [34] What can be said as certainly as possible in the absence of direct (i.e., fossil) evidence is that, by the end of the Cretaceous, the penguin lineage must have been evolutionarily well distinct, though much less so morphologically. Penguin ancestry beyond Waimanu remains unknown and not well-resolved by molecular or morphological analyses. The latter tend to be confounded by the strong adaptive autapomorphies of the Sphenisciformes; a sometimes perceived fairly close relationship between penguins and grebes is almost certainly an error based on both groups' strong diving adaptations, which are homoplasies. On the other hand, different DNA sequence datasets do not agree in detail with each other either. Pingüino". Diccionario de la lengua española (in European Spanish) (22nded.). Real Academia Española. Fosili më i vjetër i njohur i llojit te pinguinëve është Waimanu manneringi, i cili ka jetuar në epokën e hershme te Paleocenes ne Zelandën e Re, ose rreth 62 mya. Edhe pse ato nuk ishin përshtatur aq mire për jetën ujore si pinguinët moderne, Waimanu ishin përgjithësisht si zogj te krisur por tashmë jofluturues, me krahë të shkurtër përshtatur për t'u zhytur thellë. What seems clear is that penguins belong to a clade of Neoaves (living birds except for paleognaths and fowl) that comprises what is sometimes called " higher waterbirds" to distinguish them from the more ancient waterfowl. This group contains such birds as storks, rails, and the seabirds, with the possible exception of the Charadriiformes. [42]Several authors have suggested that penguins are a good example of Bergmann's Rule [66] [67] where larger-bodied populations live at higher latitudes than smaller-bodied populations. There is some disagreement about this and several other authors have noted that there are fossil penguin species that contradict this hypothesis and that ocean currents and upwellings are likely to have had a greater effect on species diversity than latitude alone. [68] [69] While penguins can’t fly, their stiff flippers, webbed feet, and sleek shape make them expert swimmers. In fact, they spend most of their lives in the ocean and do nearly all of their hunting for krill, squid, and crabs underwater. They can swim about 15 miles an hour, and when they want to go faster, they often porpoise, or leap out of the water as they swim. Life on land
