About this deal

By contrast, the RBS750 satellite has a pair of networking ports. Neither have a USB connection for adding a hard drive as networked storage. The RBK853 does come with twice the amount on Ethernet ports on its routers when compared to the RBK653 and RBK753.

With a satellite connected 50-feet from the router on the same floor and the test system another 40-feet away, the RBK752 mesh network came up short with 87.7Mbps of data delivered to the test system. That’s roughly half the Linksys Velop AX4200 (161.1Mbps), although it’s a lot better than the Netgear Orbi RBK852 (39.1Mbps). The Eero Pro 6 kit was in between with 142.3Mbps of bandwidth. The Orbi RBK753 is limited in terms of what user-configurable options there are, especially when it comes to Wi-Fi. It’s a real shame that Circle, the parental control system, still hasn’t been enabled on any of the Orbi Wi-Fi 6 products, as it means that Netgear is losing some ground to its rivals. Without this option, you can only toggle the individual device’s internet access.

RBK753 vs. RBK753 vs. RBK853 Comparison Chart

It’s hard to articulate just how easy Orbi and by extension, NETGEAR has made setting up the RBK753 for anyone, which for technology, is no mean feat! But the user interface is well laid out, and the steps are simple to follow. If you’re looking for a decent spec mid-range mesh Wi-Fi kit, that comes with Wi-Fi 6 (AX) out of the box with an excellent range at around 6000 ft² (557 m²), awesome performance with tri-band connectivity, supports 40+ connected devices, looks great on a shelf and just plain works with minimal configuration then the Orbi RBK753 should certainly make your shortlist.

This seemed better, but then at completely random times the Orbi wifi connections would drop. The base station was always okay, but the satellites kept dropping connections, so our zoom calls were interrupted, connections to online systems had to be restarted. There was no obvious reason, no change in traffic or movement of wireless devices, nothing we could see that was causing these drop outs. Where this hardware has the edge over the larger and more expensive Netgear Orbi Pro WiFi 6 (SXK80) is in its smaller scale.A good shot of the router and satellites straight out of the box. It’s hard to tell immediately which one is which, so Orbi have handily labelled them for you to get you going.

Overall, the performance of the SXK30 isn't wonderful when compared with other WiFi 6 hardware we've tested, but it's reliable and that might be more important to some. Final verdict A size comparison photo between the RBK763S and the RBK753 we reviewed recently here. We can see the RBK763S is slightly smaller than the RBK753 which while being the better spec model in the lineup. Orbi RBK763S: Setup and Configuration

Dual-band mesh Wi-Fi, with plenty of Ethernet ports

Today I had about 4 dropouts within the space of an hour (none before and none since) but it's simply not acceptable.

We did hard reset everything, turning on each unit independently, waiting for each to connect in turn, still no difference.

Orbi Mobile App

Where this option differs from the SXK80 hardware is that the Ethernet switch components had link aggregation and 2.5 GbE Ethernet on that design, but those features are both missing from the SXK30. If you do have a problem with Wi-Fi punching through walls or interference, then a mesh system makes sense. The Asus ZenWifi AX is the closest rival. This system has parental controls built-in, making it more flexible for now. However, the Orbi will (eventually) get its own parental controls, and Netgear’s range of satellites and app are better. For a typical ten-person or less office, the SXK30 has enough bandwidth to easily handle most needs, especially if you tie the satellites using wired networking and the building infrastructure isn’t especially challenging for WiFi signals.
