Space Alert is a cooperative survival designer board game created by Vlaada Chvátil in 2008. [1] Players assume the roles of space explorers on a mission to survey the galaxy. The crew is evaluated on teamwork and how they deal with problems that arise on their journey. Unlike most board games, in Space Alert, players need to make decisions and play cards in real time. It was given a special prize for "New Game Worlds" in the 2009 Spiel des Jahres awards. [2] Gameplay [ edit ] Game Board and Components. Space weather conditions vary. During periods of high solar activity, when there are more solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs), Earth experiences increased impacts. This is one of eleven sunspot regions on the visible disc, with a number of moderately sized regions. In addition there is a proliferation of simple unipolar regions. What Has Happened?

My templates started life as some of the examples in the documentation but have diverged quite a bit as I’ve learnt more about the template syntax. I’ve actually managed to get my alerts down to using just three templates - Default, (used by no ICMP response, no SNMP response and Device Rebooted) Disk Space Alert and Services alerts. CMEs). Solar Activity:Solar activity is expected to be Low to Moderate, with a chance of isolated M-flares. A large and complex region in the southeast quadrant is most likely to produce energetic flares. I see there is a thread from 2017 like this already however it predates the change to the alert template syntax in 2018 (?) so I thought it was probably better to keep this separate.Solar flares are the sudden releases of energy across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. They are hard to predict, and the energy can be detected in Earth's atmosphere as soon as 8.5 minutes after the occurrence of a solar flare. Assuming clear dark skies, there is an increased chance of seeing the aurora tomorrow evening and on 12 th November. Those in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland have the best chance if the weather is favourable. Solar Wind / Geomagnetic Activity:Solar wind speeds have been at slightly elevated levels. Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF), was weak, with north-south component also weak and variable in direction. Geomagnetic activity was Quiet (Kp 0-2). Customising the alert templates to get them looking just how I wanted took me a fair bit of time so I thought I’d share my alert templates and some of the alerts I use with them as they might be of use for others.

We are expecting an increase in geomagnetic activity during 11 th and 12 th November due to the arrival of an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection. Space weather is a consequence of the behaviour of the Sun, the nature of Earth’s magnetic field and atmosphere, and our location in the solar system. The active elements of space weather are particles, electromagnetic energy and magnetic fields, rather than the more commonly known weather contributors of water, temperature and air. During this round, the computer announces threats that appear, and the players play cards which allow them to take actions in response to the threats. Each card allows the player to move around the ship, or to take actions (such as firing a laser, supplying energy to a reactor, etc.). [4] After the action round, players complete the resolution round, during which they resolve their actions and determine whether or not they survived the threats. They then calculate their points based on the number of threats handled and the amount of damage their ship sustained.
